Your first link does not show the 3 Nov SP3. It's just not listed. Your second link (http://dwnld.paintshoppro.com/updates/X ... pdate3.exe) brings a message "File not found". So I guess we just wait a few more days.

I have downloaded and installed it. But I have a query... Normally when you add a Service Pack, the version number of PSP changes to reflect it. For example with X8 there were two service packs, and with the second one the version number was 18.2.0.61, with the 2 indicating that SP2 was installed.

So with SP3 I would have expected the version number to be something like 19.3.X.X. However, both the splash screen and Help > About show the version number to be 19.1.0.29. :?: This is in fact what the update page says it should be, but it just seems strange to me when previous versions and other Corel products, such as Video Studio, reflect what SP has been added in the version number.

Or is Corel making a distinction between a Service Pack and an Update (which is what it calls the three packs available on the Update page)?

It also took about twice as long for PSP to open after the SP as it had in the past -- well over a minute. Maybe future openings will be quicker.

I also have a 19.1.0.29, which would mean SP1, and i had SP2 installed before i added SP3. That is odd.

I think I mentioned this in another post that the updates only changed the third number
Original version was 19.0.0.96
With update 1 (not a SP1) that became 19.0.1.8
and with Update 2 it became 19.0.2.4.

In previous versions a SP changes the second number not the third. This update Update 3 apparently is regarded as a SP by Corel so this time the second number has been changed to 1.

Note that in earlier versions some of the updates were called hotfixes.
Pity Corel does not have a bit more consistency in its naming.

Hi
After SP3 installation I can NOT any more drag image files from Windows Explorer (or any other image viewing manager like, say, ACDSEE) into the Edit Worksapce. Am I doing something wrong or some settings have been changed by the patch ? If so, how can I fix it ?
Thank you in advance

I don't normally drag and drop files into PSP -- just use File > Open. However, I just opened the fully updated X9 and Windows File Explorer, and had no trouble at all dragging an image file from File Explorer to the X9 Edit desktop. Moreover, this worked in both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions. I tried it with jpeg files and even .pspimage files.

Was there anything special about the image(s) you were trying to drag and drop?

Are you by chance running PSP as an Administrator? If so, you will not be able to drag and drop.

You live and learn!  Thanks Kathy... Never knew that!! But I just opened PSP using Run As Administrator (something I have never had to do before) and you are indeed right. But it seems very strange to me. 'Run As Admin' is often used to get recalcitrant programs to run better or just run. Why on earth would it restrict something like this? It seems to run against what Run As Admin was designed to do -- though no doubt there will be some sensible (logical?) explanation...

It's a Windows thing and has something to do with UAC and breaking security when you move from a normal location to an elevated one. :(

RAA is not meant for that.

Perhaps poorly written programs need to do that in order to run, but RAA is meant for the program to perform tasks with elevated privileges. For example, running an image editor as administrator allows you to edit icons, etc., in the system's Program Files folder (which has restricted access). Mostly, RAA is used to get a Command Prompt running with elevated privileges for performing restricted system tasks.

In the case you're describing, you're trying to drag an image from Windows Explorer (running as a standard user) to an instance of PSP running with elevated privileges. That's not allowed for obvious security reasons.

If I understand you correctly, then RAA is not actually restricting that program. What it is doing is restricting a program that is not RAA from doing elevated things that might be possible with the program that is being RAA. Would that be a fair understanding?
