Audio repeats at cuts
Hello!
I bought VideoStudio x9 a couple of months back and was so happy to find a smooth software for editing videos... so happy that I in fact bought a new camera a couple of weeks back, a Sony FDR AX100E. But, the first two videos I put together had the same problem:
At cuts the audio is repeating most of the times and this is in the rendered video. So if my voice says "car" after the cut, that will turn into something like "cah-car". At first I though this could be due to the fact that I mixed framerates etc as the first two videos was a test of the new camera. So I read up some... and for my new video that I shot today it is the same videoformat (it's 4K, 60000 kbit, 25 FPS). I set the project settings for the same. I activated Smart proxy and made sure the files were visible. Activated full hardware support. All this in steps and but three rendered videos later it's still the same. I export the video to a custom setting (as there were no out of the box 4K option):
MPEG-4 Files
24 bits, 3840 x 2160, 25 fps
Frame-based
H.264 High Profile Video: 60000 Kbps, 16:9
48000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 256 Kbps
So here's todays video, the first occurence is at 01:06.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-HWEhJpMl0
Anyone who has any thoughts on what more I can try to fix this problem? My old cam was a Sony HDRCX240, quite a bit from the new cam BUT it do film in the same format AVCHD and in HD. Eventhough the above video is in XAVC S I got the same problem when shooting in HD/AVCHD... would appriciate some help here...thanks!

Re: Audio repeats at cuts
OK, I made a test:
Removed the intro movie that you can see in the above youtube-link. Then I cut the video down to 36 seconds, divided into nine clips. The last four are copies of each other, just a phrase repeated four time.
During the first five clips I get the repeating effect twice. For the last four 'copies' I get it two times again. Now that's a bit interesting as it's the same clip repeated... I was thinking that the problem perhaps occurs if the audio starts to close to the clip, but as stated I get the repetition two times out of four.
Tried again to export it to a lower resolution:
MPEG-4 Files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 50 fps
Frame-based
H.264 High Profile Video: 50000 Kbps
48000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 256 Kbps
Same results.
Noone who has any thought on this? It could very well be me who lack the right knowledge but... feels like I have tried what I can come up with now!

Re: Audio repeats at cuts
Hi HaveGuitar
Welcome to the forums
I don’t think you are doing anything wrong and do not think you should be having these strange audio repeats.
We do not work for Corel but volunteers helping with user problems on this forum, you should contact Corel support and explain the problem.
However we can check a few things.
1 / When you add your video to the timeline do you get a message to match the video properties, start a new project to check this.
You should choose yes to match the properties, View Settings Project Properties
2 / When you do Share, there is an option at the top “Same as Project Settings” Please try that option.
3 / Smart Render may be the culprit here, can you deselect Smart Render before pressing Start.
Render will take much longer.
4 / Are you using Smart Proxy, if yes please disable and delete proxy file from Proxy Manager, on occasions Smart Proxy has affected render, very rare?
All above options should work without problems but a conflict with your 4K video and Video Studio may be the reason.
As I say you should contact Corel Support, I am sure they would wish to fix any editing problems associated with 4K
Oh I noticed your video properties show using 25 and 50 fps, you should render to the original videos fps, even so that should not create this audio repeat.

Re: Audio repeats at cuts
I can't recall your mishap ever reported here. what happened if you trim 10 (or 30) frames at the problematic cut ? is it still echoing?

Re: Audio repeats at cuts
Well, I was a bit surprised as well... but as you can in my 2nd post I copied a phrase 4 times. That phrase echoed 2 times which seems a bit random to me. Worth noting: it echoes at the same cuts every export...asik1 wrote:I can't recall your mishap ever reported here. what happened if you trim 10 (or 30) frames at the problematic cut ? is it still echoing?

I do absolutely understand that, was just hoping that maybe someone else would have had the same issue as I'm having... very good tips from you but unfortunatley I tried them all tonight without success - still getting that echo effect. I created a ticket to Corel tonight so I hope they will get back to me soon.
God darn it, I am even considering buying a Mac just to get rid of these problems... and I've been a PC user for 30 years now!
best regards
Magnus

Re: Audio repeats at cuts
Ahh, and one last thing that I actually just noticed. This is the export settings for "same as project settings" checked:
PAL (25 fps)
MPEG-4 Files
24 bits, 3840 x 2160, 25 fps
Frame-based
H.264 High Profile Video: 59998 Kbps
48000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
LPCM Audio: 768 Kbps
But in the rendered files properties the Kpbs is shown as:
Bitrate 33418 kbit/s
Total bitrate 34965 kbit/s
Same properties in the original file is :
Bitrate 54713 kbit/s
Total bitrate 56250 kbit/s
Not sure if that has anything to do with the sound issue but shouldn't they be the same?
best regards
Magnus

Re: Audio repeats at cuts
Just an update in case anyone's following this;
Got a reply from Corel support with a couple of suggestions allready tested from my side, so no progress there yet.
I just had to try... I got a free license for Sony Movie Studio Platinum 13 together with the camera. To be frank, I intended not to install this soft mainly because I had Corel Video Studio but now I did. Reedited one of my 4K videos and exported - no echo. So that is one possible solution even if I would like to stay with Corel.

Update:
Got a reply from the support again - "Please update your graphics card to cope up with the workflow of the software." I think I dare say that wont help. And I suppose they mean that I should update the drivers and not the card itself. As the videos can be renderd in Sony Movie Studio I don't think the problem resides in the drivers for the gfx card or in the gfx card. So... I guess it's goodbye Video Studio for me.

Re: Audio repeats at cuts
I have had similar audio issues and have spent countless hours truing to remedy and have been back and forth w support. Even smart packaged the project file to them. They replicated my audio glitches but had no solutions. I get a extra glitchy sound, like a scratch as i fade out from one music track to another. Its smooth as can be in the project file playback, and only appears on certain music transitions/tracks on render and occurs only after project gets bigger in size.. i have tried all different rendering formats. I have changed cuts in the music. I have put cuts before the fade -- nothing works. Only workaround has been to open a new project file, add the audio tracks causing an issue and rendering out a new audio file. Then I open the orig project file and substitite the audio file and all is file. It just gets to be a nuisance if i have multiple cuts in an audio file or if i need to adjust audio levels betw tracks after the project is complete. For some reason when you fade out in the audio track it only goes to -12 decibels, i think and not to zero?! It has always been like this -- Im not sure why its suddenly causing a problem. I have thought it might be a missing codec or corrupted sound driver. All my drivers are up to date as well as my graphics card.

Re: Audio repeats at cuts
So have I by now and have also run some system scans with a recommended software and sent the results to Corel. I was told this is an issue which they seeing more and more, so I can just hope that Corel will be able to pinpoint the problem and fix it. As said, I can use Sony Movie Studio 13 but I can tell you the rendering time is horrible... the software is working and quite stable but a 30 min video will take 5 - 6 hours to render.Ilene wrote:I have had similar audio issues and have spent countless hours truing to remedy and have been back and forth w support. Re: Audio repeats at cuts
I would suggest that you will shoot a short 1 min 4K video with audio (shoot the news...). do few edits and see if the echo there. If so than upload the raw clip for us to play with and compare with your VSP.

Hi
Just to add to Asik1 reply
Once you have created that problem project, Create a Smart Package, zip and upload / share that package.
Then we get the video and your vsp along with your edits / settings etc.

Re: Audio repeats at cuts
I have been told that Corel Support has been able to replicate the problem and it now has the attention of the development team. Hopefully there will be a patch soon to correct the issue. I have a smart package all set to send them but i dont think they need it anymore.
