Can anyone tell me how to blackout just the background of my photo?

It sounds like you want to separate the subject of the photo from the background. Once you do that you can have any color background or even add the subject of your image to another photo.
There are a number of ways to do but without seeing your photo it's hard to say which method would work best. You could try using the selection tools to separate the subject from the background or the background eraser. There are other methods. Personally I use Topaz ReMask5 which is a plug-in that works very well but it's not free.
There are many tutorials online. Here's one from Corel.
