Local contrast in AS3

Post by birgander »

After testing a bit AS3, it seems to me that there is a rather huge difference between AS2 and AS3 when local contrast is activated. While in AS2 everything is fine, I quite regularly encounter huge dark artefacts on edges which are very bright / saturated on one side. Interestingly, they change when I play with the highlight recovery (not always in a good way), but that might be expected. Anyway, the effect is so annoying on many of my photos that I have to switch off local contrast in AS3. As a result, I'll not update and continue editing in AS2 for the moment. Is this effect known and are there plans to fix it?

I reported this problem on the Monkey months ago. Well, we know that one of the 3 Monkeys is dumb, so you never expect to get any feedback. It also appears that one of the other two doesn't hear, and the other doesn't see. I have been reduced to running DxO Optics 11 in a guest Windows machine.
