Paint shop pro x9 ultimate 75% off?
Lately when I open Paint shop Pro X7 I get a window that says I can get Paint shop pro x9 ultimate for 75% off....$24.99. Is this for real? When I clicked on buy now, I got a window with a warning about a certificate or something, I don't remember exactly what it said. When I closed that, the window to buy popped up and it looks like the official Corel site. I was just suspicious because it seems so soon for that big of a discount.
I was able to see the certificate message again, it says:
The security certificate for this site has been revoked.
This site should not be trusted.

I don't get that popup to buy at a discount at all. My advice, until you hear more from others, is to not proceed if you are getting that warning. Usually the warning I get from a site is that the security certificate cannot be verified. I've never had a warning from a site saying the certificate has been revoked, which sounds more like a proactive action by Microsoft.

Thanks. I don't intend to proceed unless I find out that this is a legitimate offer. I wonder if there is a way to find out if it's real? I don't see any offers like that on the Corel web site. Hoping someone else responds if they're also getting this offer.

Re: Paint shop pro x9 ultimate 75% off?
So, I just opened PSPX7 and went to Help/messages and see "exclusive offer". When I click on that, the 75% off offer is there, so that must mean it's a legitimate offer?

Re: Paint shop pro x9 ultimate 75% off?
It is a standalone program. Confirmed by French users who have paid and received. It is the full standalone X9. Corel maintains the confusion with the term "upgrade", in French too. Users think the upgrade will transform their "old" PSP in a new one. They are surprised to have both installed...hartpaul wrote:Note that it is an upgrade offer not a standalone new program.

I believe "upgrade" means that you would have registered an earlier version of the program. But, as Jean-Luc says what you download is a complete X9 and nothing is replaced.

Re: Paint shop pro x9 ultimate 75% off?
I have X7, X8 and X9.
I had the same 75% off offer in a pop-up yesterday in X7.
Not in X8.
As X9 was given to me as a present, I just clicked it away, but I did wonder if it is a genuine offer.
X9 only came out a few months ago, so a 75% discount seems a bit too steep.
Wonder why they sell it at this big a discount. Not fair on those who bought it over the past 7 weeks.

Re: Paint shop pro x9 ultimate 75% off?
It's the real deal. I couldn't get the offer on my PSPX8 so I reinstalled X7 from my original X7 exe file. After updating the service pack I opened the program, went to the Help menu and Messages and the "Special Offer" was there. Clicked on it and the offer window opened. I bought the full version for $24.99 and got all the additional programs - Perfectly Clear, etc.
So thank you to the respondents on the board!!!!
As to why the low price, my guess is that Corel is not getting the sales they expected or wanted. I always used to buy PSP when the new version came out. This time I decided to wait because they have always discounted it at some point - maybe 6 months later - and the new features didn't excite me. Perhaps that's another problem - how many more unique and useful features can they add. Kinda like cell phones - we probably use 10% of the features and the new ones are not enough to spend $600-$800 dollars for.

Or $60.00 or $80.00 which is actually the price range within which PSP usually retails.bobm185 wrote: As to why the low price, my guess is that Corel is not getting the sales they expected or wanted. Re: Paint shop pro x9 ultimate 75% off?
Personally, don't care if X9 is 99% off or $1. Until they fix their poor color management system I'm not buying it.
I'll stick with Adobe PS as it doesn't screw with my hardware calibrated screens like PSP does, and then the need to reboot to get the calibrate screens back if I launch PSP. This color management foobar in PSP has been around too long.

Re: Paint shop pro x9 ultimate 75% off?
The discount isn't based on "less sales than expected". It is offered once in awhile to people running old versions. If you open and close an old version repeatedly, eventually you'll hit the huge-discount offer (literally maybe one in thirty.)
When I say "old", I mean old, not "last version" or "next to last". Although I almost never do any video creation, a few weeks ago I fired up Corel VideoStudio Essentials X3 to check something. When I closed it, an offer popped up for VideoStudio X9 Pro Ultimate ($99.99 list) for $14.99, so I bought it.
The basic marketing perspective is, "this person is pretty much definitely not going to pay anywhere near the full price to buy the current version. Either we can get nothing and s/he'll keep using the old version, or we can offer a huge discount and maybe get something."
