Audio filters drag but won't drop into timeline

Post by Andy3T »

Hi all,

Recently upgraded to X9.5 Ultimate but find that the audio filters (and ONLY the audio filters) will drag but won't drop into the project in the timeline; I'm hoping it's something I'm not doing correctly or something easy to correct.

All suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

Andy

not quite sure what your doing -- as you drag the filter down towards the timeline does the cursor change to a small box on an arrow - then a 'no entry' sign - before finally a '+' sign when you are over the video coupled with the video highlighting - - if it does the filter is applied

if not what are you doing and what do you see ?

check the filter has applied by clicking on the clip - opening the 'options' panel - changing to the 'attribute' tab and clicking on 'Audio filter' - is the filter in the 'applied' section - customise it using the 'options' button in there

you can also apply and remove the audio filters in the audio filter box under the 'attribute' tab

I do not know the X9.5, but on X7 the audio filters are not a drag and drop items. On X7 I click on the audio channel, it opens the audio config window. On the right side there is an audio filter button. Click on it and you get 2 windows, on left side there are the filters and you can add them to the right window. When they are added and you close the config window the effect becomes active.

( at least on X7. :) )

on X9 the audio filters are duplicated in the 'samples' library folder - same filters

Hi all

I have just checked CVSX9.5 and yes there does seem to be an issue applying audio filters. Although we have to apply to a sound clip not video.

I am able to drag and drop or apply the filter to an audio clip, but not to a Split Audio clip from my MTS.

I don’t have that much time at the moment to test further but certainly different when using X7, not compared with X8 as yet.

Hi All and thanks.

Yes Trevor; that's exactly the issue for me, as you describe.

I can drag and drop an audio filter down from the library to a video clip (with integral sound) without any problem at all - and confirm it is applied

I also have no problem at all in applying audio filters to audio split from my .mts video files - and confirm it is applied

and of course no problem applying them to audio clips - and confirm it is applied

since my posts are invisible to Andy I will have to leave this for Trevor to sort out

Have viewed the YouTube clip and this just isn't happening for me. Like Trevor I can apply the audio filter to say, a music track, but not to video clips (with integral sound) nor to split MTS audio............weird!

Thanks for you input Brian.

Hi guys

I wonder if we are all singing from the same songbook.

After the upgrade for CVSX9.0 by installing SP 9.5, Corel changed / updated the download version of the program.
The newer version from July 2016 includes all service packs. I am running that version.
Any installations using an earlier download will require the Service Packs to be installed.

I wonder if that is the difference in our programs, the version number will be identical, so nothing to indicate we are running different programs.

Ok

There seems to be a problem for me in applying the audio filter to video using MTS + Digital Dolby, that includes all my Panasonic video MTS files, I know Brian that you have the same type of MTS so again why the difference?
My older SD MPEG2 + Digital Dolby work ok

All other audio formats I have used seem ok and allow the Audio Filter.

Brian / Andy

Can you check your video properties regarding audio Digital Dolby, whether you are using 5.1 surround sound or stereo 2.0 Digital Dolby
I suspect its 5.1 that’s causing the problem?

Hi all,.

Like Brian I only use 2 channel Dolby digital. I too am shooting with a Panasonic MTS. If I put an .avi clip, from other source video, into the timeline it works fine on the video clips with integral sounds and on the split audio.

Hi guys

Thanks for that, the Surround Sound was the only thing that seems to fit the bill, at least for me.
Back to the drawing board.

I don’t intentionally record to 5.1.
My Pana 900 records to 5.1 when in full auto but I can use manual recording and set Stereo 2.0
I have not found a way to change the auto record settings to use 2.0.

My video properties show as

Thanks Brian

Yes that's what I see when in manual record, stereo audio.
I don't use Surround Sound but could not find a way to change the cameras settings, gave up in the end and now I accept what comes.
