Particleshop for 14.99 link in program ?

Post by TroyTheTech »

I saw a Link in the "Get More" section of PaintShopPro, offering ParticleShop for 14.99 (Regular Price 49.99), but clicking on the "Learn More" button immediately attempts to install ParticleShop - which asks for a Serial Number.... I want to actually purchase the Plugin first but this process doesn't seem to allow that :?:

Any ideas ?

Is it possible that it is asking you for the PSP serial number since you would be following up on an offer from PSP?

Hmmm... When I press Learn More on that screen, I get a Learn More Page -- see attached image. The dollar amount is different because I live in another dollar area. But my difficulty is that when I press on the Buy Now button, nothing happens. The cursor spins for a couple of seconds then disappears and no new screen appears; nor is a link established in a new tab in my browser... So now that I too have decided to buy the plug-in, I can't find a way to do so...
PSP Particle Shop.jpg
EDIT: I looked at the System Requirements tab on the Learn More pop-up, and saw that one of the requirements was Internet Explorer 11 or higher. I use Microsoft Edge or Chrome, and indeed had to hunt for IE. When I opened it, and then hit the Buy Now button, a new window appeared (though strangely not in IE) asking for credit card details. I supplied those and the purchase went through.

FURTHER EDIT: Be careful with this. The purchase page said I would get details in an email. So far, however, the only email which seems related to the purchase is from something called Sherwin Williams touting something called Paint Perks. Sherwin Williams is a Cleveland company apparently dealing in house painting!!

In the background, however, I found that Particle Shop was in fact downloading. The Catch 22 was that on trying to install it, I got your page asking for a Serial Number. And of course the SN is in the email which I am supposed to have received, but which has not come through!!

I have raised all this with my Corel contacts. Not a happy camper!

Several hours later, and the email just popped up! Now installed -- and it has already downloaded and installed an update. The update, moreover, installed in PSP X7 and X8, as well as X9 (and also in my Adobe Premiere Elements 14).

I am still convinced, however, that the Paint Perks email, which showed up the moment I had purchased Particle Shop, could not have been merely a coincidence...

A frustrating experience to say the least. I too decided to buy ParticleShop due to the greatly reduced price.

The in-product purchasing had a couple issues. The product is advertised at $14.99 and when I clicked on buy now the price is shown as $39.99; however, when I go to checkout it shows the correct reduced price of $14.99.

The second issue is that once I completed the purchase via PayPal I received a message that I would receive a confirmation email with my serial number. Similar to Ken's experience it didn't arrive.

I opted to use online chat with Corel Support and I should have known better because this is always a painful experience. I explained the situation and the rep wanted to know what operating system I have. I replied that I have Windows 7 and what difference does it make since I am looking for an email with a serial number. The rep stated this was needed for the email and that he would have a Sales Manager resend the email. When that didn't happen I went back to chat and spoke with another rep who stated I was re-routed to her in error. I asked if she could provide my serial number and she said no. Only her colleague could do that and she was not available. I asked when she would be available and she said she could not estimate but that I should wait. So I waited and waited and finally my confirmation email arrived many hours later. In fact, I received 12 emails!!!! I kid you not; here is a screen shot of my inbox.

But I assume, Kathy, you didn't receive any spam PaintPerks email as well??? (You might want to check your spam folder... though in my case it came through in my normal "Promotions" folder...

As for the price first showing as something else, in my case -- as shown above -- I got a different dollar price since it was in NZ$. But it also came with advice that this had been converted from US$16.21 rather than the advertised $14.99. I was not going to argue, however, over the added US$1.22!!!

TroyTheTech: have you tried opening IE 11 and then going through the Get More process again? It is ridiculous that you might have to do this since the other common browsers should work just as well. But there are other things with Corel products which only seem to work with IE. In one case you have to go into Windows to empty the IE cache before something will show up (product registration) -- even if you never use IE at all! Corel really needs to look at this...

As a footnote to anyone else, ParticleShop only comes in a 64 bit version so of course will only work with the 64 bit version of PSP.

You know, it's interesting. I only just recieved my confirmation email. Gmail lists it as being recieved in the inbox at 7:17pm. I got my paypal receipt at 6:47. So half an hour, not bad. Not great, but not bad. Then I open up the email and I see this at the top

"sent: 6:47 PM'

So I ask Gmail to show me the raw email data, created at 6:47 PM. Delivered after 1806 seconds (30.15 minutes). So for whatever reason, it's sent immediately. But it's being delayed. Or at least that was my case.

I didn't have any of these problems. The advertised price was $14.99, and when I clicked on Learn More, Internet Explorer opened automatically, & the sales price was still $14.99. So I bought it through PayPal, it downloaded right away, and I got an email with the serial number instantly. Painless! And what a deal!

Wow, I'm sorry to have exposed so many of you to these problems and stress! But, it's bittersweetly comforting to see that others are having issues - and it's nice to see the helpfulness that so many here give, as well...

When I click on "Learn More", it actually opens a window 'in PaintShopPro' that downloads and starts the actual Installer immediately for me (the one in the last screenshot in my earlier post), which asks for a Serial Number... which I don't have of course, since I am not given the chance to purchase anything. No Browser is instigated or opens up... I tried to open the Browser manually and go to the site for ParticleShop, but even after clicking on "Get More" and "Learn More" a few times, it does not seem to affect the Browser, as the main price at the site is the full listing price (no sale offered - I thought maybe clicking on the buttons in PSPro would instigate something in the Temp files, but that seems to not be the case).

What a crazy issue!

No ads from Sherwin-Williams. By the way, they are a reputable company so that is very strange.

My PayPal receipt came immediately as soon as I completed the purchase at 1:45 p.m. and the first batch of confirming emails from Corel came at 5:50 p.m. and then two more at 6:40 p.m.
