Thank you for the link to the movie you created. I watched the entire movie. It was a great historical and informative movie as well as a document about the Artic and some of its wildlife. You also did a great job narrating it! Thanks again!tletter wrote:I use this feature routinely and it works fine if your traveler symbol has a transparent layer. You can see an example of a custom traveler symbol (Russian nuclear icebreaker) that I modified to use with Rotopen at the following URL:fungus wrote:there is a link to upload an image but like you I have tried loads of files types but nothing works like the supplied pictures

I modify my traveler symbols using mspaint and then import them into GIMP where I add a transparency layer and then export them as a TIF and finally use Rotopen's Load Image option to select the custom traveler symbol.

Well thank you for commenting. VS can produce a relatively complete video if you can tolerate the inevitable and mysterious crashing. Every render with a complex VSP is an adventure and not in a good wayOld_Friend wrote:Thanks again!

Strange thing, I used this site
http://www.aconvert.com/image/png-to-tiff/#
to convert PNG to transparent tiff , the result looks fine on the overlay track
But not in rotopen.

What is the bit depth of your image asik1 - I have found they need to be 32bit images to work correctly

Re: VS X9 ULtimate ProDAD Rotoscoping upload image
I had this exact problem, i.e., not being able to upload a transparent image for use as a Symbol with ProDAD RotoPen in VS X9 Ultimate. The secret - for me at least - is to make sure your image is in RBG Mode and not Indexed Mode. There are a couple of extra reuirements, but once done, it works perfectly every time. How? First, download and launch GIMP free s/w to initially manipulate your image. In my case, I initially downloaded some free transparent PNG Clip Art logos for my map project. These PNG files are what you want to Open in GIMP. Since mine were already a transparent layer, I simply Opened the PNG directly. If your image is not already transparent, you will need to complete that step before opening it to GIMP. (Search other threads for tips on creating transparencies.) But back to me, here are my steps:
1. In GIMP, click File-Open on desired transparent PNG image.
2. Click Image-Mode and verify it is set to RGB. If not, set it. *** This was my PRIMARY problem; my imported transparent images were all defaulted to "Indexed Mode" - not RBG - and therefore would not upload correctly. DOUBLE-CHECK YOUR MODE SETTING = RGB! ***
3. Click File-Export As-Name: <Your desired F-N>, with "tif" extension as part of <F-N> (IMPORTANT)
4. Scroll down the file types, and click "TIFF Image (*.tif, *.tiff)" option.
5. A small screen pops-up indicating "Export Image as TIFF" with the default Compression value set to "None". Click Export, and your RotoPen-suitable transparent image should now be available in the file folder you specified.
Good luck.
