ME I presume the 19.5 bit means it 9.5 version?

ME I'll import a MOV file in the the library. some times if it's at a time several it will freeze up before it finishes importing them all. if it just a couple it imports then fine but if you click on one to play or put it in the time line it will freeze up. I have tried it with MOV files from a Fuji camera and an iPad and an action camera and the same thing happens all the time. I am running in 32 bit. Just comparison MTS video files from a Panasonic camcorder work OK as does an AVI file from a Hitachi camcorder.

Corel VideoStudio Hi Angus : thanks for the heads-up. Yes, 19.5.0.35 is the updated version. Please kindly copy your above note and send us a direct message through Facebook along with your registered email address and we'll gladly report your issue to our development team for further advise. Thanks!

done as they asked but as yet I have had no reply or communication.

I am using a optiplex 760 pc running 32bit windows 10 pro and 2.94 usable gig of ram. I know it's not the best and most upto date pc's for video editing but I also run movie plus x6 from serif for which there hasn't been any updates for years and that works fine with the same MOV files, so I can only conclude it's something to do with the way VS handles the Mov file or there is something wrong with the program..

Hi Fergus

And welcome to the forums.

Hopefully Corel Support will find a reason for the Mov issue.

Some thoughts…..
Mov files can be quite demanding on our pc resources, especially HD types, there are of course many different types of codec used with mov video.
Video from Iphones and Tablets can be troublesome as they tend to use a variable frame rate.

Quick Time was required to play some types but a QT security issue prompts users to uninstall that, although we can install the QT Codec without installing the players?
To be honest I don’t know if QT will help or not, a bit of a grey area, but worth a try.

If you are able to add / import the Mov to the timeline, VS (X9) will automatically create Smart Proxy files, this process does take a while during which time the timeline playback could suffer. (be patient)
Using Proxy files should improve Project playback, if Clip playback is a problem then that is your pc capabilities.

View Settings Smart Proxy Queue manager, if files show there then proxy files are being created.

If you could upload samples to a sharing site, Google Drive for instance then we can test on our pc’s, my feelings is it is your pc capabilities and mov combination that’s the issue here, and that most wont have problems.

I understand that the PC is not the best for video editing but it work fine with other video editing software, that what I do not understand. It's just Video-studio x9 that crashes/locks up

well I have built a new PC.
and upgraded to 64bit windows 10.
ON advice I went for Novatech AMD A8-7650K Quad Core Motherboard Bundle
put it in a old case I had hanging about with dvd extra usb's and a couple of extra fan's
installed Window 10 pro 64bit o my old drive and installed videostudio. ( and all the other bits as you can not upgrade from 32 to 64 bit with out a completly clean install. take for ever.)
All appears to be great. no prblems as yet. haven't finish a prodject as yet be well on the way.

only problem now is working around some of VS shortcomings! I'll be posting a lot more question!!!
