VSP x4 no sound

I have looked all over this board and could not find a solution. I am using VSP X4 in Win 10. I loaded video files from my Sony Handycam. They are MTS files. There is no sound. When I separate the sound track, and click in the edit mode, I get sound. When it is not in edit mode I do not get sound. I loaded an MP3 music file and get the same results. In highlighted edit mode = sound. In playback = no sound. I've looked at this discussion on this board but have found no solution. What am I missing?

You are not missing anything, I can only assume this is a compatibility issue.

X4 was released a few years ago before Windows 10 so I can only assume that is the main problem.
Also X4 can only set project properties as standard definition not to match your MTS files, that may also be the problem. If so then the fix is to upgrade to the latest version.
I noticed when I closed X4 that Corel did offer a 75% discount on one of those annoying pop-ups, that we tend to ignore?
You could try running the trial X9, although has many limitations should play the audio ok?

Using X4 I am having problems with all types of audio when trying to playback in Project mode, clip mode seems to plays ok, so even converting my video to another format does not help.

When I switch to Sound Mixer I was able to play the audio in project playback, but now the thumbnails / timeline clips do not display correctly.

I have tried everything I can think of to fix this to no avail, maybe time to upgrade.

Thanks Trevor. I was thinking about upgrading, but hope to make sure that will resolve the issue.
