Maintain 1920 x 1920 MP4 format
I have a Bubl VR (virtual reality) video camera that produces 1920:1920 MP4 videos. The format must be maintained in the edited video for the VR functions to work on YouTube.
Problem:
Start a new project --> answer Yes to "Do you want to change the project settings to match the video's properties so VideoStudio can perform SmartRender? --> when I try to save (no editing done), I get message: "The frame size (1920 x 1920) of the video file does not match the settings and therefore cannot be trimmed [18706 1:1]" and it will not me create the video.
Any help would be appreciated.
I am running the trial version of VideoStudio X9.
Original Video properties:
File format: MPEGC-4 File,
File size: 48.8 MB,
Duration: 84 seconds,
Video type: H.264 High Profile Video
Total frames: 1,220
Attributes: 24 bits, 1920 x 1920
Frame rate: 14.516 frames/sec
Data rate: 4814 Kbps
Audio type: MPEG AAC Audio
Total samples: 1,346,552
Attributes: 16000 Hz, 16 Bit, Mono
Bit rate: 64 Kbps
The raw video is square with 4 circular images in each quadrant. The Bubl has 4 cameras with fish-eye lenses that put all 4 images in one video file.
Video is visible on YouTube at https://youtu.be/Cq3RUnsxVBk
I am new to video editing, so please excuse any information I have left out or if this has been covered before - couldn't find anything in the forum or database.

Re: Maintain 1920 x 1920 MP4 format
Hi
And welcome to the forums
A different and maybe an unusual video frame size.
The message I think is referring to the Project Properties settings.
Go to Settings Project Properties I would think they are set to 1920 x 1920 and not 1920 x 1080.
Changing the Project Properties to the standard frame size may allow render.
Ok I just downloaded the YT video at 720 x 720 and get the same error message.
I was able to render to MPEG4 1920 x 1080 project properties.
This created a 16:9 video with the square video sat in the middle, which looks the same as displayed on YT.
I have to say that you are using the Trial version which is limited in its functions, although mpeg4 should be available.
Your frame rate of 14.5fps is a little concern as VS will upscale that, I would suggest trying 29.97fps as each frame will be duplicated, I think playback would look ok.
Oh
Interesting video format, nice effect…………..

Re: Maintain 1920 x 1920 MP4 format
Thanks for looking at this for me. I also contacted technical support and they said that the trial version does not support this feature and to buy the full version. So I think I will do that and rely on the 30 day money back guarantee if I can't get it to work, although the response sounded more like a sales pitch than a solution.
BTW - if you want to see what those 4 fish-eyes look like stitched together view https://youtu.be/d0aUOEs_nW4. It is a different but similar video shot. If you are viewing from a computer, drag your mouse on the screen to look around. If using a smart phone, move the phone around.

Re: Maintain 1920 x 1920 MP4 format
Hi
Yes as I said Video Studio has to use 1920 x 1080 for its project size not 1920 x 1920
Your video will sit inside the 1920 x 1080 creating black borders left and right, but the finished video will play and look like your first YT sample.
Is that what you are trying to create, a video having the 4 views?

Re: Maintain 1920 x 1920 MP4 format
Sorry, this solution doesn't work for me.
After rendering, the video is sent to the Bubl website where the 4 images are stitched together to create the VR video. If the 1920 x 1920 is not maintained throughout, then the stitching process does not work. Very finicky requirements.
The disappointing part for me is that the camera advertising indicated that the video format was easily handled by any video editor. Not true.
I'm going for a refund and trying Pinnacle Studio 20 Ultimate.
Really appreciate your help.

Re: Maintain 1920 x 1920 MP4 format
Hi
Maybe I misunderstood the concept of your video.
I downloaded the sample from YT that had 4 camera angles on one screen. Clearly not using the original
Does Bubl combine all 4 lenses into one pana video.?
I was able to set the frame size by using User Defined with DV/AVI settings applied to Project Properties.
That did allow me to render a 720 x 720 video but as DV-Avi
I don’t know if this is what you are trying to achieve or whether you have to retain the original video properties?
I can make that sample available if you wish, although you should be able to create that yourself

Re: Maintain 1920 x 1920 MP4 format
It is a very quirky and inflexible method they use. Must be in 1920 x 1920 MP4 format to work. It seems like the only viable software is Adobe Premier Pro at $20 per month.
Their process is as follows: Take video from Bubl VR camera in 1920 x 1920 MP4 format --> edit (if you can
) and maintain same format --> upload video to their Bubl website (bubl.io) --> They process the video --> view in 360 on their website --> download to Youtube via their website (can't directly download to YouTube --> share the video.
As I said, not user friendly.
I can download the video back from the Bubl site as a 2688 x 1344 MP4 video and edit that and upload it again, but this is a very slow process, especially uploading the video. And I haven't found out if the 2688 x 1344 format is any easier to edit.

Re: Maintain 1920 x 1920 MP4 format
Hi Asik
The real problem here is retaining the square video whilst using MP4
I can do this using DV-AVI but the file size is very large.
We cannot retain that square 1920 x 1920 as MP4
I suspect Bubl will only accept MP4
But yes an original video clip would be interesting to look at.
The resultant video is much akin to Google street views.

Re: Maintain 1920 x 1920 MP4 format
Trevor, I have my ways with VS... hence I need raw footage.
I believe the hip of 360 will pass as 3D did . it's just a 15 sec experience.

Re: Maintain 1920 x 1920 MP4 format
The solution we came to was to export the video clip to Bubl. They stitch the clip and I can download it as a 2688 x 1344 MP4 file still at 15 fps. Then Corel product: Pinnacle Studio 20 Ultimate can edit the MP4 and export it as 2688 x 1344. This clip is then exported back to Bubl and Bubl exports it to YouTube. I tried exporting it to YouTube but it does not recognize it as a VR video. Apparently there is some code that must be added. Studio 20 probably does it as it has a VR editing function, but I haven't figured that part out yet. The other hitch is that the minimum fps is 24 which increases the file size a lot. Hope another Bubl user finds this useful.

Re: Maintain 1920 x 1920 MP4 format
Now I see that the 1920 x 1920 video did not upload either. It was only 9 seconds long but too big. Here is it's link on Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1VLT ... npUN0NuMnc . I prefer editing the 2688 x 1344 size because you can follow the motion must easier and it is easier to visualize what the viewer will experience.
Types of editing I want to do: Cut out footage, add audio (voice over, music), scene transitions, titles. Possibly slow down or speed up sections.
