FX color corrections won't stick
I have low-contrast grayish old black and white videos I am editing. I can increase the contrast so the darker areas are a bit darker and the video looks better (using one of the slide scales in Color Correction) BUT I can't get it to remain. As soon as I click on the clip it reverts to the normal (previous) setting. I have many clips in this video and I need to adjust the contrast for all of them. How can I get the changed setting to remain on the entire project with all the clips improved?

Change the contrast on the first clip. Are you saying this clip then ignores the changed contrast? If this is the case, then this could be a bug. If what you mean is that then all the other clips remain with lack of contrast, then I'd expect that. You need to Copy Attributes of the first clip and then Paste the Attributes to all the other clips selected together. Then all clips should get the same contrast changes.

Hi
I have not used Color Correction before but the first time did not retain the settings.
Then I repeated the settings which now remains.
I don’t know what I did the first time for it to fail. But I guess that’s what you are getting.
Now each time I try the settings remain?

Re: FX color corrections won't stick
Hi
Al are you able to replicate this issue?
a bug has to be replicated by others and so far it was only the first instance that did not keep the settings, since then the Color Correction works ok.
I cannot explain that, maybe i'm seeing things?
Larry has not replied so we don’t know if his program is now working ok.?

Re: FX color corrections won't stick
I just tried to reproduce and it won't. Any contrast changes remain with my X9.5 as expected.

Re: FX color corrections won't stick
In order to copy the attributes I right click on the selected timeline clip? and then paste the attributes on the same clip?
Anyway as soon as I click on project it returns to previous setting (in my case light gray tones rather than enough contrast since I'm working in B & W).
I'll be more specific if need be.
Thanks,
larry

Hi Larry
I don’t quite understand, you indicated in your first post that Color Correction would not apply to a single clip. Then asked how to apply to many clips.
Quote” BUT I can't get it to remain. As soon as I click on the clip it reverts to the normal (previous) setting.”
1 / Are you able to apply the Color Correction to the first clip? If yes
2 / Right click that clip and choose Copy Attributes.
3 / Shift + Click the last clip to select all adjacent clips (shows as a small yellow line around the selection)
4 / Right click that selection for Paste Attributes
All clips should now use the same Colour Correction settings.

They say that a picture paints a thousand words so hoping that a video paints even more please watch this video :- https://youtu.be/eOItjZO6NlY
please watch it all the way to the end as it shows two ways of adding colour correction first to each clip individually - then to only the first and copying to the rest - I have deliberately set the control to the maximum to make it more obvious that it is applied

Re: FX color corrections won't stick
I am still having a problem but maybe I'm not making my problem clear.
I doble click on the clip which is one of many clips. It is highlighted (FX shows at the left of the clip) and brings up Color Correction. I Increase the Contrast and a bit of Brightness since I'm dealing with old grayish black and white.
BUT when I click on Project the clip does not keep the settings and reverts to what it was. I've tried many "clicking" procedures. Tried the Copy Attributes but nothing works the way I'm doing it.
I've tried loading the original AVI file and working with that. Same problem. I thought that perhaps after the Color Correction is done once, trying to change it again might not be possible. I just can't get my correction to remain when I click on Project.
Thanks,
larry

Re: FX color corrections won't stick
Larry this color correction can be set only once you can't "multy" use it. Only the last setting "count".
If you want to set one basic correction and but then tweak it on other clips you better select color correction from the FX library . those can be added one over the other.

Re: FX color corrections won't stick
Hi Larry
Are you viewing the results by looking at the preview screen.?
If you view the timeline clip / thumbnail then I see no change.
But I have tried and all tweaks I make to ColorCorrection remain as last set.
Do a quick test by setting the brightness fully to -100
Then modify to 100, I see the preview screen change in real time as I drag the slider.
When I return to the ColorCorrection the last setting used is always showing.
It may be the type of video you are using, although I doubt that, can you try the Samples Balloons, do you have the same problem

I saved a short video screen capture to show what I see
