Audio on video
I have problems to synchronise audio with image when editing.
I have recoded the audio with a Tascam recorder but when I use it to make a video, even if I look for the sound graphics and I match them, a few seconds after it's out of synchronisation.
Ufff, do you understand???
Any help?
Thanks

Re: Audio on video
Yes I understand
it sounds to me as though your video file and your sound file do not run at the same speed
how long is the video - in minutes and seconds
how long is the audio - in minutes and seconds
....

Check also your FPS on the camera. There are many 60 FPS cameras.

I have a HC-V750 and a HC-Vx870.
Not sure which sample rate records the audio.
I recorded at 1080/50p

I can always have the option, if I knew, of converting the mp3 file to the same rate of the camera.
But I dont know de rate of the camera...

Re: Audio on video
Hi Alfons
You are of course better to use an audio editing program but VS may be able to improve things, that depends on how accurate your audio has to be.
We can stretch the audio file.
First set the audio clip in sync at the beginning of the clip.
Then dragging the end of the audio clip whilst holding Shift will stretch/ reduce the clip, hopefully with little distortion?
Do that whilst using sound mixer to view the wave form.

Re: Audio on video
I know the rate of my videocamaras. The sound is 256 Kbps and 44100 HZK.
I have the programme AVC and I'll convert to that and try editing again on VS.
I'll also try what you suggested!
Very helpful as always!!!
Thanks from Catalonia!!!! Soon a new nation of Europe!!!

Re: Audio on video
It is always good to have some markers at the beginning and at the end of the soundtrack recoder together with the video. I use very often extra sound recorder Zoom H2 and never had such problem yet.
The practice mentioned by Trevor is always good, put the video and the audio on the timeline. Find and ajust the start markers to the same position and pull the end of the audio or video track to the end marker. This will stretch the both tracks to the same length.

Re: Audio on video
If you are using a separate audio recorder, remember it records at 44.1 and video is 29.97...so if you want to sync up make sure audio setting are set to 48khz and audio should match up.

I don't understand this: First set the audio clip in sync at the beginning of the clip.
I have never used it.
And I suposse that only sound track can be streched...?

Re: Audio on video
I am not sure I do either alphons - whilst I am happy to admit that I am no expert on sound I cannot see how sampling rates affect the length of the audio recording - if you record a one hour event then the recording should be one hour - regardless of sampling rates - when played back in the device that recorded it - but playing back in other devices - ie Videostudio- can introduce timing errors, generally very small but enough to destroy your synchronisation.
Which is why right back at the beginning - (second post) - I asked what was the length exactly of the two recordings (video and audio) - then we could have talked about stretching/compacting the audio track - unfortunately you have never answered that
more recently Lata (Trevor) also suggested the same thing - put both recordings in the timeline and sync each end by extending (or reducing) the length of the sound file
put the files in the timeline and synchronise the two at the beginning - go to the end of them - hover the mouse over the audio track - click to select it - then "HOLD DOWN 'SHIFT' - while you use the mouse cursor over the yellow handle at the end of the sound file and slide it left or right until the sound matches at the end - release all
Hopefully you **should** now have sync all through
does this help
