PaintShop Pro X8 Can't install 64 bit version

Hello,

I am new to the forum.

I just bought PaintShop Pro X8 Ultimate at a retail outlet so I have the disk. There are 3 options for installation, 64 and 32 bit, just the 64 or just the 32. When I try the first 2 options the installation stops, I see something about reconfiguring C++ redistributable, and I get a message saying Installation Wizard not completed with this number: 2147024546. I then tried just the 32 bit install which worked without a problem.

I have a AMD Phenom II X2 555 Processor 3.2 GHz (64 bit), Windows 10, also 64 bit and 12 GB of RAM so I don't see why I can't install the 64 bit version.

I have tried the Corel tech support but just get a standard email telling me to disable the firewall and anti virus software even though I told them that it is not a download.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can install the 64 bit version?

Make sure your windows is updated.
Remove PSPX8 (may be a cleanup tool that you have to use.
Turn off your computer and turn off your internet.
Restart computer.
Disable all programs such as virus and firewall running in the background.
Install PSPX8 choosing both 32 and 64 bit versions.

See if that works
You could also try booting your computer into Safe mode and see if you can install both there.

You might try those instructions as well if previous info does not work.

Thanks hartpaul.

After further research I did find the link you mentioned above about the error code. Last week I had installed a 30 day trial version of X9 just to have a quick look before buying. I uninstalled the X9 but it left behind the 64 bit C++ redistributable program, it seemed that was what was blocking my 64 bit install for X8. I went into control panel and was able to uninstall the C++. Once that was done my 64 bit X8 install worked without a problem.

I think this is something the Corel tech team should have known.
