X9.5 Ultimate issues

Post by AttilaTheHun »

Hi, I'm currently trying out X9.5 Ultimate (version 19.5.0.35 - no updates available) and I'm having two main problems. I'd rather put them together in one thread instead of posting all over the place.

I'm on W10 64bit.

Issue #1: ***I didn't have this problem with X8 Ultimate.***

Aside from the fact it takes X9 a good 20-25 seconds to start (with that damn APLoading window clogging half my screen), every time I start the program the Media collection stock thumbnails (Samples --Video\Audio\Image) keep returning even though I deleted them in my previous use of X9. I delete the thumbnails, shut the program down, restart the program, they're back again.

This is VERY annoying, especially if I often add new clips to the Media section.

Issue #2: Image

Looking at the available codecs, there is one missing that normally didn't in previous versions. I have 3ivx MPEG4 Codec installed, which I select when saving certain projects in HQ avi format while keeping the filesize down. Compared to 3ivx, all other available formats fall short for me. So here I thought I'd try out X9.5, all ready to go. I go to save the video.......and the codec is missing from the dropdown menu.

I searched high and low for some info on how to fix and I saw a couple other users here had the same problem - except with missing audio options (mp3 codec). It wasn't much use to me.

I was on W8 Home previously (using X8 Ultimate x64) and I was able to export AVIs with the 3ivx codec. When I switched to W10 a month ago and installed a fresh X8 x64, I had the same problem - missing 3ivx from the dropdown. Today I installed the X9.5 Ultimate trial hoping it wouldn't be an issue - 3ivx codec once again missing from AVI codec dropdown selection as you can see above.

DirectShow Filter manager and Radlight Filter manager both show 3ivx codec properly installed & registered with normal merit. Changing the merit to Above normal or Preferred doesn't make any difference.

Can someone help me restore order to this mess?

Hi AttilaTheHun

And welcome to the forums

Referring to the library I assume you mean the Samples folder.
Yes there is an issue deleting the contents when using CVSX9 all earlier versions allow us to remove those clips. Corel are aware of this issue and are investigating.
However you can create your own folder using the “+” Add folder option, as far as I know the library should open with the last viewed folder?

I cannot understand why the codec is missing from the AVI list, especially when it worked for earlier versions, but with an earlier operating system, so maybe a Video Studio / Windows 10 issue.
We do not work for Corel so I can only advise that you contact Corel Support explaining this problem.
Although the trial is much reduced and limited in its functions I don’t think that should affect the codec and therefore believe the full purchased version will be the same.

As a long shot you could try resetting the program by re-naming the 19.0 folder found here.
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\19.0

The folder is hidden so typing “appdata” to the start search panel should locate the roaming folder?
Otherwise change the Folders – View - Options to “show hidden files and folders”

Sorry I cannot be more help with those codecs.

Years ago I used 3ivx when I had to send videos to Mac.
This page states that the encoder isn't free.

Hi

You may be best in asking 3ivx Support if their codec is suitable for use with Windows 10.
I see no reference to windows 10 on their site?

A similar issue with the Matrox codecs, missing in X9 but there in X5 and X6. Also, just had a look under the Quicktime/mov formats, none of the Avid DNx?? codecs are listed in X5, X6 or X9. Do you know how VideoStudio picks up/recognizes different codecs, because I note the Lagarith codec is there in all three programs?

"Requirements
The 3ivx MPEG-4 5.0.4 Decoder requires Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7."

Don't see W8 support either but it sure worked fine in it. Didn't have to do any tweaking to get it going. Installed it, installed X8 trial, bam it was there.

But wait!

I'm trying to remember if I had installed 32bit or 64bit of X8......maybe the reason it doesn't show up now is because it's a strictly 32bit codec.

Problem solved.

3ivx codec is 32bit, so I uninstalled the x64 version of X9 and installed the x32 one. Now the 3ivx codec shows up in the Compression - codec menu for saving AVIs. Also changing compatibility to W8 and running as admin fixed a nasty crash that would happen each and every time I clicked on the Compression tab when trying to save a video.
