Moving a Work-in-Progress....

Post by DayO »

I'm currently using VS Pro X7 to create/edit my videos.

Can I move a current video work-in-progress (ending in .VSP) from one HD to another without
adversely affecting the work?

Running under Win 7 OS.

Only if you move all the video, photos and music included in the project at the same time. A vsp file does not contain video, photos or music. It is only a small text-type file which tells Video Studio what video, photos and music are included in the project, where they are stored, and what editing has been done to them. And when you move everything, you might have to re-link the clips to the project file.

The simplest way is to make a Smart Package of the whole project and transfer that: File > Smart Package.

Is the Smart Package discussed in the VS Pro X7 manual?

Hi

Yes but limited detail, press F1 to access the help files and search for Smart Package
This explains how to create the package.
Basically it copies all files used in the project along with the VSP and saves them to a separate folder.
Its this folder that should be moved.

Are you needing to move the projects files to another Hard Drive, if so simply target that drive when creating the Smart Package.
