Hello,
I'm using VideoStudio x9 and I encounter some issues when I manage zoom and transition on photo in overlay track:
- When I add a transition on the overlay photo, the transition effect is applied to all the screen included the main track and other overlays.
How can apply the transition only on the current overlay photo boundaries?
- When I zoom on an overlay photo a black background is added out of the photo and so hide other tracks. I try to change the background to make it transparent but we can only change the color, am I wrong ?
Is it also possible to zoom on the photo without change the size of the photo ? Like, for instance, add some boundaries and zoom on it ?
I hope my explanation is clear enough. I'll be able to do some screen shot to illustrate my issues if needed.
Thanks
Overlay zoom and transition issues

Re: Overlay zoom and transition issues
There is a special category of transitions, called Overlay Transitions in the dropdown Transitions menu, which will do what you want. Hopefully one of them will be acceptable to you. See image below:watoo22 wrote:When I add a transition on the overlay photo, the transition effect is applied to all the screen included the main track and other overlays.

I'm not really sure I understand this. In your Preferences > Edit, near the top do you have the box "Use Fit-to-Screen as default size in overlay track" ticked, or does your overlay appear in a smaller box, like in this photo? When I zoom on an overlay photo a black background is added out of the photo and so hide other tracks. I try to change the background to make it transparent but we can only change the color, am I wrong ?
If this is the way you have things set up, then please give more details of the problem and perhaps add a screen image which might help us understand better. That also applies to your final question about zooming without changing the size of the photo. I don't understand that one at all...

Re: Overlay zoom and transition issues
Thanks a lot for your quick answer
I test the overlay transition, it works fine. Part of my soft is in french, and actually this group of transitions is called "Balayage" which means sweep/scan in English.
For the zoom here is some screens :
Grey color for the main track with an overlay photo which doesn't fit the full screen:
When I zoom we can see the black background on each side. What I want is actually to make this background transparent. For my last point, it's about zoom the photo but without change the photo size like this:
I hope that's more clear.
Have a nice day

Re: Overlay zoom and transition issues
I've added more clarifications :
When I zoom we can see the black background on each side. What I want is actually to make this background transparent.
I use the feature "apply plan and zoom", it's possible to change the background color but I do not see the transparent option
For my last point, it's about zoom the photo but without change the photo size like this: This is what I want do to, zoom inside the current photo boundaries. You can see the difference between my screenshot without zoom.
This screenshot has not been done under VS, it's just to illustrate what I aim to do.

Re: Overlay zoom and transition issues
Sorry I do not see an "apply pan and zoom" in my version - where are you seeing that ?
I have a "Video Pan & zoom" in my FX library and when I apply that I can zoom in to an image without any black background showing
see before and after below

Re: Overlay zoom and transition issues
To zoom I just double click on a photo from a track and select Edit -> Apply Pan &Zoom :
Then I can click on Customize to display the zoom configuration dialog :

Re: Overlay zoom and transition issues
I just tryed in your way and actually I found a difference on it:
When you add the Video Pan and Zoom through the FX menu it add a filter on a photo. It open the almost the same dialog than me.
But the difference is that you can only zoom in the photo boundaries.
It correspond to my last point : zoom and keep the same photo size. So good for me, I know how to do it now
You can fine the filter on the attribute of the photo, and change the zoom with "customize filter" : But try my way, you'll see that the "double click on photo -> Edit -> Apply Pan & Zoom -> Customize" allow to open the dialog and define zoom boundaries outside of the photo. So finally, the photo take bigger place on the screen. It's on this case a background color is added
