Need RAW support for Fuji XT2

Post by jknights »

The Fuji XT2 is now with us and I have one. I was wondering when we will get an update to the RAW support in ASP3.1 for the XT2 which uses the same sensor as the Fuji XPro2.

I want to buy the XT2 but I have to wait for ASP to add support for this camera :(
I already created a support ticket for this.

Do you have a link to the support ticket as I will piggy back that with a second request.

I don't think there is a link to this support ticket because I added it by filling in this form: http://www.aftershotpro.com/en/feedback/

Yesterday I did something very stupid. I ordered the XT2. Tomorrow I will get it by post and won't be able to use raw...
I totally forgot that ASP is not supporting it yet. I really didn't think of that at that moment but just wanted that camera.

The XT2 is the best Fuji camera ever. In fact the control layout is the best digital camera that I have ever used. I have used Nikon cameras for 43 years. I am thinking of selling all my Nikon kit.

Try Lightzone it is free and multi-platform.
Very good it is too.
Save as TIFF/JPG and process onwards in ASP.

I have been thinking of that too. Since I started using the XT1 I haven't used my Nikons a lot, only a few times were I had to flash frequently.

I tried Lightzone but prefer Darktable myself. Lightzone has no image assessment option and that is important to me. So I just hope ASP won't die and people at Corel begin to understand that ASP could be the number one software they want it to be, if only.....

Support of X-T2 is just one step - it does not mean the quality is acceptable.
E.g. the ASP conversion quality of Fuji X-E1 is very poor, far behind Darktable, Capture-One, Photo-Ninja, ... and out-of-cam JPG.

I agree that everything and all is about image quality, but I must say that I have been comparing my XT1 raw images wit Darktable, Capture-One and Raw Therapee, and I like the ones from ASP the most. I took the raw images like I get them with my ASP settings, and tried to use all settings in the other programs, spending about 15 minutes at each pictures, but just could not get the same results. I agree that sometimes (background) details from ASP files can be awful, but overall the results from ASP are feeling just right to me. A little too red and warm sometimes.

I think we should not underestimate ASP, but that said, it is unbelievable they are letting it slip away. Compared to other software they are very slow, not pro-active to what goes on in the camera market, and it seems they are not dedicated to quality but to marketing. They should not create a profile/conversion for a camera/sensor and then leave it as it is, but should try to improve it whenever they can and from the information they get from the community. But they never do, and that's the biggest mistake they could make. They can say whatever they want, but when it comes down to quality of images there is no dedication. But I'm still hoping someone at Corel will open up his eyes and put time, love and money in improving ASP, because I'm still convinced it could be the number one raw converter on the market. And that is something you might expect a company is interested in ;).

Come on Corel. Adding one camera profile per month is not the idea. Look at this impressive list from a one man company: http://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2 ... =LAQE3bYKK

I'm beginning to think Corel is hiring the wrong people to work on ASP.
