Transition behavior
When I use transitions I want them to overlap the clips and not move them. Is this possible?

Re: Transition behavior
I think I know what you mean - but am not sure that you understand the process
If you put two pencils on the table end to end and then make one of them overlap the other do you not have to move one of them to make that happen
and that's what happens with nearly all transitions - the two videos are first overlapped - which means moving one of them - so that the transition can start to show less of the first one and more of the second
have a read of this topic also - which discusses a similar question - - - http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 0303&hilit

Re: Transition behavior
It is possible to modify transition behavior in some other programs. If I start to fade one of the pencils out, then fade the other pencil in, it is not necessary to move either pencil

Re: Transition behavior
Well yes you can fade one out - then the next one in easy enough - but that is not what is normally referred to as a transition

Re: Transition behavior
Makes me wonder how it's being done in the multi cam editor. Is the video being "stretched" to allow for the cross fades? If so it doesn't look like it. Hmmmm

Re: Transition behavior
Thanks, I had already watched that. I have 6 different cameras in the multi camera editor and they all synced perfectly and I can apply the default cross fade in the editor. I was mainly wondering about using some of the other provided transitions in the timeline editor without losing my "sync". This is a music video with some vocal close-ups and when they are out of sync it's unusable. I am starting to think this is NOT possible in VS 9.5. Must be why there is a cross fade button in the MC editor.

Re: Transition behavior
Hi pauxier2112
Interesting comment on MCE transitions keeping the sync, not thought of that.
I have just tested this and the MCE seems to add 1.5 seconds to the cut point of each clip having crossfade applied, that retains the audio sync. (half the crossfade at 3 seconds)
The timeline transition does not do that but merely overlaps the two clips, shuffling all clips to the left causes the OSS audio.
The addition off the frames can only be applied mid stream when cutting the clip, it cannot be applied to the ends of clips, unless we add a 1.5sec image of the last frame.
Not a problem for MCE.
Editing on the timeline, I guess if you only have a few to modify you could manually add the 1.5 seconds to reset the audio sync, a bit of a pain I know.
As far as I know Pinnacle does add frames when applying transitions retaining the original length of the project.
Given that MCE can do that I don’t see why the timeline cannot do the same, but as I mentioned only works correctly at a cut not the end frames?
One point on using MCE, make sure your project properties match the video being used, or at least using the same frame rate before opening the panel.
