Freeze frame effect?
Can this effect be done in VS9? For example, in the middle of a clip, I want to freeze the frame on someone (that just appears in the shot) for about 2, 3 seconds and then have the clip resume playing. Thanks for any advice on this.

There's another way, but not as great as the cutting option.
Simply capture the frame image you want to freeze on and insert it as an overlay at the point you need to. You can adjust the time on the overlay, too.
The possible benefit of this method is that you don't lose the audio of the original video. Of course, you may want to lost the audio depending upon your subject and intent.
The "cut-in" method is probably the best method from a visual standpoint, but you lose the audio during the display of the cut-in image. That may cause difficulties in where to capture the image and where to cut-in. More than two seconds of silence is not a good thing. You can alway add some sound effect or background music during the display of the cut-in.
