Text keeps changing to an outline

So I am pretty green when it comes to graphic design. I just purchased Paintshop Pro X9 and have been playing around.
I am trying to make a simple logo that is 514 x 200 (transparent). I choose my background and foreground color and enter the text
and when I change the screen to something other than PSP (open web browser, outlook, etc), the text changes to an outline mode
and I do not know how to get back to the full text with color.

Also, sometime when I click on bold, italic, or something like that, my foreground color changes to something else.

Am I doing something wrong or is it a bug in PSPx9?

Any help is appreciated.

On the Tools tool bar make sure Create As is set to Vector. It looks like you may have it set to Selection.

I don't think this should make any difference if you're just clicking on Bold or Italic when the colors change, but just in case make sure that you have checked the All Tools box at the bottom of the Materials palette and see if that makes a difference.

Well originially I only had 64bit installed so I decided to install 32bit also. In order to do that, I had to uninstall x64 and then reinstall both.
It seems to have fixed both problems in both 32 and 64. Also, I am pretty sure vector was still selected.
