Hi
I shoot my video in 1080 on a Panasonic HLC - HS900 with a view to rendering it to Mt2 for burning to Blu-ray and possibly an MP4 version. After rendering a project to Mt2 today I noticed an occasional break up on some clips in the project (not present on the source video or apparent when editing) consisting of a stack of straight horizontal lines on the vertical frame edge and vertical lines on the top or bottom of the frame edge intruding into the frame. I have never had this before and cannot see anything similar in FAQ.
I have tried rendering both with and without 'Smart' render but it makes no difference.
Any thoughts please?
Many thanks,
Andy

Need to know which version of VS you are using, and perhaps may need details on the properties of the video clips and the properties of the project. I suspect there is some format conversions going on that might explain the breakdowns you are seeing.

Re: Picture break up on frame edge(s) after rendering.
Hi Al
It's X8 and I've matched the properties of the clips and the project as I always do. I've just tried rendering the project to MP4 and get the same result there.
Thanks for interest.

So what are the properties of the source clips and the properties of the rendered clip?

Re: Picture break up on frame edge(s) after rendering.
Are you sure the frame format of the original video is 1220 x 1080 and not 1440 x 1080? The 1220 part would be very unusual and could account for at least the lines along the top and bottom (though they are still very unusual too), but not along the sides...

Re: Picture break up on frame edge(s) after rendering.
Sorry Ken, it should read 1920. I typed the details late last evening here in the UK and didn't have my specs to hand. I don't seem to have done anything differently from what I would normally, so it's quite a mystery. I have used the anti shake filter rather more than I have in the past but the problem appears even on the clips were a filter wasn't employed.
As an aside, I've been using the 'standard' anti shake effect from the FX library but shouldn't the Pro Dad Mercalli filter also come pre-loaded in the X8 FX library?
Thanks
Andy

Thought it might be sensible to provide these links to illustrate the problem

Seems I've got to the bottom of the problem now. It's to do with the anti shake filter. Delete this effect from each clip and the problem goes away.
Thanks for input/suggestions. I've also found out that pro day Mercalli only comes with 'Ultimate' and not 'Pro'
