Hi
I just installed VideoStudio Pro X9 Lite which was part of an Intel offer for a new PC. I then upgraded to 9.5 using the installer from Corel. In the help files and manuals there is reference to an option for creating a DVD directly from VideoStudio, but I cannot find the Disc option under the Share tab. I did notice that there is a separate MyDVD application installed which seems to do more or less the same. Could somebody confirm that it is normal that I do not see the Disc option anymore in the Share tab of VideoStudio itself?
In addition I like to know what the Lite addition means. I do not recall that this was mentioned when I downloaded.. Anybody has an idea?
Thanks for the help

Re: Disc option not visible in Share Tab
I don't remember ever hearing of a 'lite' version of Videostudio - we used to have SE versions in the past which were all special editions given away free - but all had a number of functions removed
from what you have said I would guess that your 'lite' version has had it's disc burning module removed - all current versions of Videostudio are indeed capable of authoring and burning DVD's and Blu-ray discs.
maybe some one else knows

Can you confirm that when you choose the Share tab, the little disc with DVD on it does not appear? -- where the red arrow is pointing in this image:
If it is not there, then indeed it would appear that this 'Lite" version has had it removed and MyDVD is your only option. I too have never heard of the Lite option. With VS X8 and X9/9.5 the option to burn a DVD is there, but to burn a Blu-Ray disc you have to pay around $10 to get that option.

Thanks for the reactions I only see the top three icons neither the disc not the 3D exists. Quite a disappointment since this was alos not mentioned as far I remember in the Intel promotion. Will have to decide what to do now.

Re: Disc option not visible in Share Tab
When you say you "upgraded to 9.5 using the installer from Corel", do you mean you paid to convert it into a full version or did you just download the update pack from the Corel site? If the latter, it would only have updated what was in the Lite version, not added extra features missing from the Lite version...

Re: Disc option not visible in Share Tab
That's OK, I did that. The point is then anyway the same issue would exist for the Pro X9 Lite version before the upgrade. One way or the other I feel that I have been tricked since in my memory there was no indication what's so ever that this version would be limited. Now it's not about the money (I think 100 Euro for a well supported and functional Video Editor is a bargain) nor about the product (I used Pinaccle Studio 11 in the past and VideoStudio seems to be more stable). The point is that because of all this hassle (and also some comments in the rest of this forum) I do not get the idea Corel is taking their customers serious. Since I have to decide where to go now (I bought a new PC for this purpose) I am still considering alternatives like Magix for example, though maybe the result will be similar.
In addition: now I don't have a clue what other options are missing in my current installation. To be honest I feel like uninstalling everything, just buying the ultimate version (maybe wait for X10?) and forget about this experience. The problem is that I then feel I would 'reward' Intel/Corel for an in my opinion unfair and misleading behaviour.

Re: Disc option not visible in Share Tab
I am not sure why you are blaming Corel in this situation. It is Intel which apparently sold you the computer and installed software, and it is them who must have arranged with Corel to install a cut-down version of VS. The fact that there is a cut-down version is, as you have heard from us, a bit of a surprise, but is certainly not uncommon across a very wide range of software. I hasten to add that although I have been on this Board for many years now, neither I nor others who appear here all the time, are Corel employees. We don't get a cent for appearing here. We are users like you volunteering our time to help other users. So we are most definitely not apologising for Corel.
But think about it and at least point the finger in the right direction...
As for waiting for X10, given the usual annual cycle of Video Studio versions, that won't be for another 5 or 6 months, so don't hold your breath for that.
But sure... look at other software. Some of us here have lots of the competing NLEs. I personally have the latest versions of Cyberlink Power Direct, Adobe Premiere Elements, Sony (now taken over by Magix) Movie Studio Platinum and Magix itself, plus one or two other competitors and at least one professional-end editor. But my personal preferences and experiences -- and admittedly sub-professional needs -- always bring me back to VS. So if you can get over your initial disappointment and, indeed, anger, it could at least be useful to try the full version of VS. And remember that if you buy it, there is a 30 day full refund should you be further disappointed. And from quite a few reports here over the years, the refund system actually works!
