Importing recorded DVD

I have a DVD recoder which records in the DVD R- format (home movies, non-copyrighted material of course). When I try to import the video files - the Video Studio says that the files are not supported. Should I convert the files? How do I convert them and to what? Or is there something I can do in the Videostudio itself? I can't believe that a product as good as this can't work with burned DVD's that are not copyright protected ...

What version of VideoStudio are you running?

Are you using the Import from DVD function, or did you just copy/paste one of the *.vob files to your hard drive

Did you finalize the DVD disc in your dvd recorder first
