PSP X9 saving file

Post by ShaunMcP »

Error message: Requested parameter not found in repository.
Receive this message whenever I attempt to save my work. Does anyone know how I may correct this please? Have recently installed PSP X9 on my new PC and this is my first work session.
Thank you

I have the same problem. I'm not able to save as or save a copy as after to install the update. I got this error message : "Requested parameter not found in the repository". I must deliver a photo set this week at my client. It's important for me to resolve this problem soon. Thank.

What is the make up of your files? Does it have layers etc.

One solution, albeit a very round about solution, is to save your work/layers individually as tiffs. (Or PSD). Then download the trial version of Photoline. Reassemble the layers/files in Photoline. Save as a Photoline/PL file. This way you can keep all your work. You can open Photoline and have PSP as an external editor. So then you open your work in Photoline, flick over to PSP then back to Photoline. Never having to risk saving in PSP.

I use PL as my main editor. PSP as an external editor. Any layer than needs some PSP touch is quickly sent to PSP, edited, and sent back to Photoline.
Caution though. You may find Photoline to be way better than PSP so be warned!!!!!!

Good luck

Hi All, we are an apology for this error happening. In fact, it's a side-effect in case below two conditions you did before

(1) Upgrade to Update 1 version
(2) Save pspimage format

This caused by Update1 will write the new version key to registry while saving, but Update2 didn't know that new version tag. Here we offer two quick solutions can help you to resolve the issue.

Solution #1 Go to "Run" and type "Regedit". Go to 'HKCU\SOFTWARE\Corel\PaintShop Pro\X9\Encoding\PSP' and delete it.
Solution #2 UNINSTALL existing PSP, then reinstall PSPX9 GM + Update 2

Solution #2 is a preference for all users since it's easy to do. Please remember to save your workspace before uninstalling. Again, sorry for having this issue and hopefully it did not make trouble for you.

Cheers

Hi, thanks for the answer. This bug has caused serious trouble indeed.
See http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=60101

Would you please also inform the forum members of this thread about your solution?

I also have an unreadable .pspimage file now. Your solution may prevent this to happen in future, but I still can't read my file. Or would you know a way of restoring a wrongly saved .pspimage file?

Best,

Peter

"... hopefully it did not make trouble for you?" Really? Not make trouble for me? Are you SERIOUS? On PSP for 17 years now....even using XP9 for a long time and no issues....now this damn issue starts happening and corrupts dozens of my files. I was "hoping" there was a way to fix already corrupted files...but nope...your suggestion is only "possibly" fixing the issue going forward from what I gather.

So I made the registry fix, and now I'll just paint in PSP HOPING this fixes it...saving a file I've spent weeks working on to have it suddenly say "I'm sorry, I'm PSP...I just opened this file fine before...but now all of a sudden, I have no clue that its a file I created so I'll just give you this stupid message and pretend you never spent weeks creating this file....hopefully it did not make trouble for you"

News flash....anyone who's replying to this post that's had this issue....IT DID MAKE TROUBLE FOR THEM!!!! Some more than others...but there is NOTHING more deflating, demoralizing or infuriating than to have a file (or files) you've worked hard on to suddenly be corrupted by a program you've trusted for almost two decades!

Tried every possible way of avoiding this short of learning Photoshop®...save as, make copy of file before saving, moving copy of file to different folder, drive, system, up in the cloud...you name it...I tried it...NOTHING prevented it from happening when it decided to rear its ugly head....it even corrupts the files you're attempting to move away from the offending original.

I know this an old post but I needed to vent my frustration over this issue...and if anyone has found a way to un-corrupt files since the last time this thread was visited...that would save me weeks of recreating my lost ones from scratch.

Thanks for listening...I'm a very mellow guy...but this has tested the very limit of my sanity!

Regards,
