Time duration & fixed overlays

Post by watoo22 »

Hello,

I'm using Video Studio x9 and I'm wondering why I cannot adjuste the time duration between like 1:24 and 2:00m.
When I want to add one centiseconde to 1:24 it goes up directly to 2:00.

I'm also seeking for a way to fixe overlays together.
Because when I change the time duration of the main overlays, other overlays are desynchronize and I need to move them manually.
Any automatic way to do it ?

Hope you see my points. Let me know if you need some clarification.

I bet you are in a PAL country...!

I say this since you obviously don't understand the layout of the clocks in Video Studio (and other editing programs). When you see a digital clock on the VS screen it will appear 00:00:00:00. But the important thing is that this means Hours:Minutes:Seconds:Frames. The Frames are obviously enough fractions of a second. PAL video uses 25 frames per second (and NTSC uses 30, or more accurately 29.97). So with PAL video if the clock is showing 00:00:01:24, this means 1 second and 24 frames. Then if you add one more frame this makes it 25 or one full second, and thus the next reading will be 00:00:02:00...or two seconds zero frames.

To 'lock' your overlays in position against the top video track you need to enable 'Ripple Editing' look to the left hand end of the timeline you will see a number of little padlocks - click on the one against the top track to enable - then click to close the padlocks against the overlay tracks you want to lock to it

read about Ripple Editing in the user guide "Help >> User Guide"

Oh I see, it now makes sense. Indeed 1/24 s will be largely enough to synchronize the audio.
Ripple Editing works fine also, great feature. I'll now use the english user guide.

Thanks both of you for the quick answers :)
