Tracking an object?

Post by JPW »

I'm sort of beating my head against a wall to figure this out. I have a video where a bird flies behind some trees and I would like to have an arrow pointing to the bird throughout its flight. I've done quite a bit of searching and found plenty of videos around how to track motion for something that stands out in the video, but in this case there isn't anyway for VS to pick up this moving bird amongst the trees. Is there a way for me to manually create the path on top of this video so that the end result will be an arrow pointing it out throughout its flight?

Look into path. Create some small jpg with an object that will follow your path. Pick one of the paths given that is close to what you want. The Customize motion allows you to change the start, end, and the shape of the path. Do this on an overlay track.

Thanks for this. You gave me just enough information to get this off the ground. I struggled some with understanding how to enter key frames to keep track of objects with varying speeds and movement, but I have it pretty close. With some more fine tuning I suspect it will be pretty fluid. Thanks again.
