Ive had this program for ages but have been unable to reinstall until I found a fix tool posted on this board
thanks for that whoever went through this work ! I had long ago given up on this program
Although its a 64bit machine I tested the fix with the 32bit model, since in works I decided to leave well enough alone
The only thing I see that is missing is, I can find my crossfade transition effect to be able to automatically apply between shots when in Preferences/Edit tab/Transition Effect
indeed there's nothing there to select at all. All transitions do appear in the A-B Edit window to the right, and can be applies manually, so they are there, sort of
and they work, I can manually place transitions in my timeline, I just cant get them in automatically.

Hi
and welcome to the forums.
Your Customise panel should show a lot of options, clearly a problem there.
You can set Crossfade by setting the Default Transition Effect not customise this is what I see.
What Version of Video Studio are you running, I see 18.6.0.6
Try resetting the program by re-naming the 18.0 folder.
Details here.

Does that help?

Re: Transition Effects Missing VS8
Hi
What do you get if you select these boxes.
There have been reports in the past regarding the Customise options being empty, do a search of the forums.
Not sure if the issue was fixed other than doing a clean install.
This is what I see You could try re-installing using the Clean-up tool to remove the program.
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=59847
Tip
When creating a snapshot use PrtSc + Alt to copy active window only, that way it may display better on forum.

Re: Transition Effects Missing VS8
ok so I did all that and reinstalled,
applied the hotfix
it worked but the folder was empty just the same
then installed the update 3
installed the bonus pack
now I see as in the attachment
to pass the time, several things of interest
if you try install the setup to the D drive instead of default C:/
you get an error because the folder name (which is ridiculous) is over 100 characters long, and it wont take if you edit
so the only choice is to install to default (where my space is precious) but then it works after the hotfix
so when you get it installed and running
go to preferences/edit tab/transitions and the folder described below is empty of anything, the select window says 'Random"
add the bonus pack and update, and you see these folders instead of the darn transitions
selecting them does nothing
the transitions are still in the right hand pane window, and they work if you manually select them
if you check the "Automatically Add Transition Effect''
the program crashes as I presume there is nothing there to automatically add
for the life of me I have had the greatest trouble and weeks of time just getting this thing on a machine
why can they not just make an install/uninstall like anyone else?
oh and if that were not enough, theres a size limit on posted images in the forum

Re: Transition Effects Missing VS8
Hi
The two transitions from ProDad are correct, you should find those in the A/B library / prodad gallery.
There should be many more, approx. 130.
If you select the right hand down arrow as my first image , how many entries do you see.
I suspect the two ProDad’s.
Can you try resetting the library, Settings Reset Library, yes I know you have re-installed, just trying all options.
The A/B transitions should be in this folder:-
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X8\Vfx_plug
I see 139 entries all .vfx files.
Where did you finally install the program? you mention a different drive to “C”
Can you tell us the name and size of the X8 installation file, my file called VideoStudioUltimateX8_64bit_1Main.exe at 1.38 Gb
If you have to re-install again, please remove the Setup folder from C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X8 Setup Files.
When you installed the program, you applied Corel VideoStudio X8.5 Hotfix 2 to get the program to launch
Then applied Corel VideoStudio X8 Service Pack 3, did you allow the program to auto install that Service Pack or install from a previous download file. By allowing the program to auto install makes sure we have the latest patch.
I did a search of the forum and found a few hits, all seemed to indicate an error in installation, here is a typical response.

Re: Transition Effects Missing VS8
Hi
Well I can only think it’s a problem with your pc and not a direct Video Studio problem, I guess that’s not what you wished to hear?
When you re-installed did you use the Cleanup tool to uninstall.
After which do the Reset trick by deleting that 18.0 file as the cleanup may not remove that file.
When you install are you installing to C/Drive, that bit is a little unclear?
I gave you the location of the transition files, did you find that folder and how many files were there?

Re: Transition Effects Missing VS8
on my way to throwing the PC out of the windowm I fell over this chap
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=60224
same problem, and the same answer
I ran sfc /scannow via the admin command prompt,
it said it didnt find any errors or corruption, nonetheless I rebooted
installed VS8, used the hotfix tool, and it took
and something else, all the transitions are there in the automatic selection box
installing to C:\
I learned I had to accept the default for the setup files or the installer reported that the sting was longer than 100 characters and apparently thats too long
If I tried to edit it it also wouldnt take, I guess I cant remove the setup files after
so
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X8 Setup Files
and reverted to putting the application on the D:\ drive
D:\Program Files (86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X8\
I hope it holds up, in the mean time thanks to all, there might be something in that sfc /scannow, remember to run from the administrators prompt
find Cmd in accessories, right click 'run as administrator'
cheers
all the filters appeared to be there, some 136 or abouts
the size was reported different in windows, but the same as yours in control panel/programs and features

Re: Transition Effects Missing VS8
Hi
Thanks for the feedback and happy you have managed to get the program installed ok, maybe I should have remembered that post regarding sfc.
There are some users on the forum that install to other Drives than C without problems so your installation should hold up.
I don’t think we can do an instal without using C
There are some files and folders that will be placed on C, some in the documents folder structure and others in
C:\ProgramData\Corel\Downloads
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems (hidden folders)
Anyway glad you are up and running.
