Video Studio X9 installer
Well, well another Corel annoyance to add to the many I already put up with...
I've been using Serif's Movie Plus X3 then X5 and X6 for many years, but it's dead app, no development for a couple of years now, and AIUI no chance of anymore development as Serif are going in other directions...
As a PaintShop Pro X series user I thought I'd give a trial of Video Studio X9 a go.
So before I even get to see the app in action Corel rubbish hits the fan again...
I click to download the 1+Gb installation, it downloads then immediately goes into an auto install, not giving me any choice of where the App is installed, this means it installs in a place I do NOT permit ordinary apps to install. (I have my reasons).
So I guess my question is this:
After I've uninstalled this thing, and I start again, how do I go about getting it to install in the place I want it installed?
Thanks
Dave

Re: Video Studio X9 installer
When you start the download, select "Download Only" then choose a folder location for the downloaded files

Hi
Just to add, once downloaded locate the program file in the 64 bit / Ultimate folder.
Double click Setup.exe to manually install, also can choose your install location.
I think the trial and full program works the same, hopefully?

After I'd posted earlier, and completely uninstalled "IT" that's what I did...lata wrote:Hi

I remembered I'd had the same trouble with PSP X8 (And some other X8 stuff) so I went looking for the "Setup.exe" and installed from that, which gave me the place to install choices.
Thanks for the input folks, appreciated.
All I need to do now is fathom out how to use the app which seems to be quite different in methodology to Serif's Movie Plus.
BTW. The Trial version has some things set non fuctional, they only become enabled when the licence/reg key is input after purchase.
Ax
Nb: I wouldn't have been in any Ultimate folder as I never ever use any Ultimate app.

Re: Video Studio X9 installer
Hi
Good that you have managed to install the trial.
If you decide to purchase you should Uninstall the trial then install the purchased version.
And yes the trial is limited in its functions with no authoring section, project properties can only use standard definition, although MP4 Hd settings are available.
We are not over impressed with the trial.
If you have problems or questions we are always here to help
Oh out of interest where was the Setup.exe file located?

You mean I then have to download 1.01 Gigs again?lata wrote:Hi

I was under the impression if I paid, I would be supplied with the required Key to enter, then it would become a fully functioning version.
It was in C:/Users/MyUsername/Desktop/VideoStudioX9/64bit/Trial/Setup.exelata wrote: Oh out of interest where was the Setup.exe file located?

Hi
As far as I know, Yes you will have to download the program again after purchase.
If you purchase the Ultimate version there are 3 files + the Bluray addon at a little extra cost.
The Main program at 1.1 Gb
Standard Content to complete the installation at 1.18 Gb
And the Ultimate package for the prodad stuff (Bonus Features) at 1.55Gb

Re: Video Studio X9 installer
Been somewhat busy with other stuff so only got around to having a play with VS X9 today (Sunday 17 Sept UK)...
So before I can get going, a question...
Loaded in a video and set to Timeline display, but apart from showing a single frame at the start, the rest of the Time line just shows as a green block that represents the rest of the film strip. (It plays but nothing is displayed in the Timeline).
How do I get the whole video in film strip form to display in the Timeline?
Thanks
Ax

Re: Video Studio X9 installer
Go to "Settings >> Preferences" and change the drop down next to "Clip display mode" to "Thumbnail only" - OK at the bottom to close that dialogue and you should see a timeline full of frames.
