Hello,
I have installed Video Studio X9 Trial version 19.5.0.35.
when I import some video - for example default sample SP-V02.mp4 into video track and select project view then playback is choppy.
But when I select clip view then playback is ok.
When I try to create mp4 video through share tab then result video is also choppy.
Why such difference in project/clip view and how to solve this ?
Peter

Make sure Project Properties are the same as your video properties. If they are not and that is what you want, your pc may not be capable of playing the project video that requires different encoding.
In any case, please state the video properties and your project properties, and what specific format you are Sharing (fps, resolution, bitrates)

Re: Choppy video in project view but good in clip view
Ok, I am trying to set project properties by video properties.
My video created by Canon camera is:
MPEG-4 File, H.264 Main Profile Video, 24-bit, 1280 x 720, 25 frames/sec, Data rate: 3705Kbps
Audio: MPEG AAC Audio, 48000Hz, 16bit, Stereo Bit rate: 128Kbps
In Project properties I am seeing only project Format: DV/AVI and existing profiles: Previous settings, DV (720 x 576, 16:9, 50i), DV (720 x576, 4:3, 50i)
I created "My" and tried edit it. In General tab I have set 25fps and Frame type Frame-base, Frame size 1280 x 720 like in my video properties. In AVI tab I am confused with many Compression types, I tried None, Xvid MPEG-4 Codec, x264vfw - H.264/MPEG-4 AVC codec and their detailed properties, no success.
In all my tried settings I see choppy video in project view and good quality in clip view.

Re: Choppy video in project view but good in clip view
Additionally when in new project I drag SP-V02.mp4 default short sample into video track then dialog appears with question to adjust project settings by video properties. I clicked yes and result is the same: Clip view plays it ok but project view plays it choppy. I tried Windows 7 32-bit and also Windows 7 64-bit. The result is the same.

Re: Choppy video in project view but good in clip view
Hi Peter
Unfortunately the Trial version is a cut down version and has many limitations.
One of which is the limit on Project Properties to standard definition DV-AVI or Mpeg.
I would suggest you set the project properties to DV-AVI, "no compression" will allow you to set the frame size using User Defined.
More important may be to set the frame rate, you show 25 fps, is that progressive of interlaced, I suspect Progressive.
As for the poor jerky playback, use Smart Proxy
Settings – Smart Proxy Enable.
Then start a new project...
When you add a clip to the timeline a proxy file will be created, should improve Project playback
They do take a while to render so view Settings Smart Proxy Queue and File Manager.
You should see a small icon on clips that are using proxy files.
I am surprised that you see the option to match the project properties as its would only work for Mpeg2 and Dv-Avi. If its annoying then deselect Show Messages from (F6)
