I recently installed the latest ffdshow codec package and all the media studio procomponents crashed. None would load up just kept getting the send error message . Once i unistalled ffdshow everything was Ok

Many of these codec packages are fatal. Happily, you could uninstall your's - not always the case 
The quick answer to them is don't. If you need a specific codec, then install it by itself and not with any others; at least, that way, if you have a problem, you know exactly what is causing it.
