Previous versions still on my harddrive
Just downloaded PSPX9. First of all, the database containing tags, ratings, etc. did not come forward from the previous version. How do I get that done? Secondly, I have not uninstalled any previous versions. I have X5,6,7,8 still installed. Should I uninstall all those previous programs and if I do will that cause problems with the current version.

Re: Previous versions still on my harddrive
There is no problem in having those versions installed. I have had versions 8 through X9 installed at once, without any issue.
Aside from disc space, there is no issue.
You might use the supplies from the older versions.

Re: Previous versions still on my harddrive
Thanks, Cassel. That's good information. What about the databases with tags, ratings etc. for my photos? Still can't get them to come forward to X9. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, i would not know because it is something that i don't use and that is only from recent PSP versions.
Maybe someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

Re: Previous versions still on my harddrive
I'm not positive, but I think that after you export a database (File > Database Backup > Export) you can import it to another version.
Five caveats:
1) I would strongly advise against even attempting to import a backup from a newer PSP version into an older PSP version!!!
2) Do a full PC backup before attempting an import.
3) Backup-Export the database of the target PSP version before you attempt an import.
4) It's import, not merge. Expect that whatever was in the database before the import will be gone.
5) Expect some possible screw-up. If you do the import and "everything seems okay ..." look for problems.

- Programmers have a saying that the worst scenario when testing a newly-written program is "Everything seems to be working as intended." In those situations there often is a hidden bug that won't manifest immediately and when it finally does manifest you discover that a lot of data has been screwed up or substantial parts of the program have to be recoded because they expected certain data in a certain format and now it turns out that's not what is going to those sections.
