Installing VideoStudio X8 Ultimate fails with error -9

I am installing CorelStudio X8 ultimate on a clean pc with Windown 10 Pro on Windowns 7 Pro. I previously installed it once (CorelStudio X8 ultimate) before but had to change my motherboard. I keep my old cpu (Intel Xeon X5670) and disk, but my new motherboard now hold 2 cpu and twice of memory.

Hardware and Windows 7 were installed by a professional.

I still have my VideoStudio X8 64bit license number and tried to install it. All the files were "saved" to a folder in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X8 Setup Files", the installer went through the process of installing Visual C++ 2008, and DirectX and then shortly after stopped with a message something like: Installation Wizard not completed, To complete installation at another time, please run setup again. Click Finish to exit the wizard. -9

I am running the installation on a local administrator account.

All my Corel application installed properly except Corel Videostudio

Why is this?

I don’t know why your program will not install and have no ides about the error message?

I can only suggest you try to re-install the program again.

First delete those Setup files so you start from scratch.
To uninstall try using the Cleanup tool, download from link in this post.

I am trying to install on a notebook, Windows 7, getting the exact same error. I don't even need to provide a screenshot, it is identical to the OPs post above. I have tried the cleanup tool, I have rebooted, I have copied over a fresh version of the install package to make sure mine was not corrupt. I get to the same spot every time.

The only hint I get along the way is some error near the end of the "Saving Files" procedure about not being able to access a file in the MyDVD\DOTNETFX_45\INSN####.rra where #### is always different numbers. I can continue be end in the -9 error.

Any ideas how to fix this?

I have uninstalled, re-installed .NET several different versions. I always end up with a final -9 error shown above. Has anyone solved this?

Sorry but I do not know why the program will not install.

Some found creating a new user account would allow the installation to complete, once installed the account could be removed. Maybe worth a try.
Otherwise
You should contact Corel Support, hopefully they can fix this matter.
Corel also have a Facebook account which could be useful.

In case someone else was having this problem, for me I finally did an sfc /scannow and rebooted. After that the install worked as expected.

For those who might not know what "sfc /scannow" means, it refers to a Windows utility (System File Checker) to scan Windows system files for corruption and fix them: see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833 for a more detailed explanation and how to run it.
