Re: slow in project mode
Hi Hendrik
And welcome to the forums.
CVSX9 trial is a cut down version and my not fully functional.
I would suggest you use CVSX8 to test your files.
You do not give any details of your video file?
Right click a clip on the timeline and choose properties, what are they?
Take a screen shot of that window to create an image, attach to your reply.
Go to F6 set Show Massages when inserting …….
Start a new project
Add a clip to the top track should show a window asking to match the project properties.
If you do not see that message then Video Studio may be struggling reading your video.
Smart Proxy, it does take a while to render the files, once complete you should view the Smart Proxy Manager to make sure files have been created, in addition a small icon can be viewed on the clip.
Smart Proxy should improve project playback.

Re: slow in project mode
Hi Trevor, I bought x8 and downloaded the x9 just for trying to solve he problem, i had an earlier version x5 i think, with the same problem. that was a few months ago, now I have a new pc and the x8
the video files are from a 4k camcorder Sony ax33, I downloaded a free program to see if the files ok, that seems to be good.

Re: slow in project mode
Hi Hendrik
Can you confirm that Smart Proxy files have been created, go to Settings Smart Proxy Manager there you should see a list of proxy files.
A small icon will show no the clip when proxy files are being used. Other than Smart proxy I do not know what else to suggest?
If the Sony camera came with software you should install that, it may install the appropriate codecs, I have not heard of H 264 Top Kwaliteit Video.
I would approach Corel Support with your problem, As K4 editing is relatively new I would have thought Corel would like to know of any problems.

Re: slow in project mode
The smart proxy did not solve the problem, i tried that with a few clips.
I haven't thought of the sony software, maybe that will work, when I have results i let you know.
thanks a lot for now Trevor

Hi
If my memory serves me correctly, there was another member "erdna" having similar problems.
I have just searched my e-mails and it does appear to be the same camera.
We had assumed it to be a one off with subsequent recordings being ok.
Are you able to upload a sample to a sharing site so we can also test.

Hi
Any sharing site, Drop Box, Google drive, Microsoft One Drive, I use the latter but most free sites will do.
You would have to send a much smaller file the properties you show are for a 7.8 Gb file, now that’s a bit big.
One minute of video would be long enough, even so quite large in MB

Re: 4k sony video - slow in project mode
I downloaded that clip and have no trouble playing it in both Clip and Project mode. The Properties shown are exactly the same as you show above (though in English rather than Dutch). There was no slow motion, just normal speed. And if you look at my computer specs in my Profile, you will see I have a far "weaker" computer than yours.
I would, however, note that when I first inserted the clip in the timeline I got the message asking if I wanted Project Properties to match those of the clip. I said OK. This could be a point of difference. In the full version of X9 in Preferences > General, the box beside "Show message when inserting first video clip into the timeline" is ticked. I don't know about the trial version. But the other important thing about the trial version, as Trevor has already said, is that it is severely crippled. Your video is XAVC-S (as that is the format in which your Sony films) and it is highly likely that the trial version does not come with that codec so even if that box is ticked your trial version of X9 would not be able to set Project Properties to match.
But you say you also had this problem in X8. So I opened X8 and inserted your clip, and again got the message asking if I wanted the Project Properties to match. And again, after saying 'yes' to that, the clip played perfectly smoothly in both Clip and Project mode.
I should also note that in both X8 and X9 I could render a new clip when I go to Share and choose Same As Project Settings, and this new clip also plays smoothly. Interestingly enough, though, when I choose "Same As", the Properties box shows identical Properties to the original. But when the video is rendered, while all the other Properties are the same, the data rate (bitrate) is reduced from the original 99999 kbps to 32118 kbps, or about a third of the original. I suspect this is the maximum bitrate that Video Studio can produce in this format, though I may be wrong on this. And of course the quality of the video at this rate is still very good.
However, overall, unfortunately, I am not able to replicate your problem.

Re: 4k sony video - slow in project mode
I too am unable to reproduce the slowmo. Are you using a UHS3 SDXC card for your 100Mbps recordings?
When you get the slowmo video and the audio is ok, does this mean that the slowed down (=longer) video is further running without audio?

Re: 4k sony video - slow in project mode
Hi
Using CVSX9 I am having some problems in playing that video but feel it is my PC capabilities rather than Video Studio.
Usually Clip playback will be good as it is played from the file, whereas Project Playback is through the timelines and does require Smart Proxy.
Clip playback is stuttering with audio sync issues, at the end of video play the audio continues on a few seconds.
I did however manage to play ok in clip mode no stuttering, perfect playback, but just once, dont know what i did there????
Where clip playback is poor that will also show when playing on other media.
I am running Windows 10 and its default Movie & TV and Windows Media crash my pc forcing a restart with a message to google Video TDR Failures, a little disconcerting.
If you use Windows Media Player do you have any problems?
Project Playback is ok and I would be able to edit that video although clip playback could be a drawback. I assume rendering via Share would be ok.

Re: 4k sony video - slow in project mode
I should perhaps have explained that in my own uses of the clip, both in X8 and X9, I did NOT have to use Smart Proxy. And just to recall, my own computer is the rather weak Core i3 mentioned in my Profile. And in neither version X8 or X9 did I have any trouble at all playing that clip absolutely smoothly in both Clip and Project mode. Interesting that erdna also had no problems apparently, I assume in X9 though he did not say.lata wrote:Usually Clip playback will be good as it is played from the file, whereas Project Playback is through the timelines and does require Smart Proxy.

Re: 4k sony video - slow in project mode
Yes Ken I Use X9. I now notice that when I disable Smart Proxy and delete the created Prroxy file, I have some shakyness/strobing (no slowmo video) when playing back in X9 Pronect mode. No problems with playback outside X9 with VLC, WMP and MPC-HC players.
