.MOV files/Videostudio Pro X7

Post by Kripdish »

I have Videostudio Pro X7 and having trouble viewing .MOV files, they upload, I get sound but no video. I have Quicktime 7.79.80.95 and running Windows 7 Pro 64bit . I have tried to update X7 and I get the message that I am up to date. Downloaded VSProX7 SP1 but it won't load, Gives me the message: "The installed version of the application could not be determined" FYI the file is produced by Apeman Action Camera. What could be the problem?

Hi

First the error message, when we try to install SP1 the process looks for Video Studio having no service packs installed, I guess the installer is trying to determine the version as 17.0.0.22 (not sure about the 22.)
The installer finds version 17.1.0.22. The “1” indicted SP1 already installed. Hence “The installed version of the application could not be determined”
Yes the wording of the message could be better.

Anyway check Help About for your version number.

Mov and mp4 files caused a lot of problems with Corel providing a few hot fixes, ultimately applied to SP1.

The last hot fix is available here, simply replace the file.

I cannot say if this will fix your particular issue but is worth a try.
Unfortunately there are lots of different flavours of Mov video which may be new to the video editors.
Does the Apeman Action Camera have its own software, that may install the correct codec for the video, that’s if it is a codec issue?

Thanks for your reply Trevor, I have reloaded X7 after a clean install of Win 7, installed SP1 and the Hotfix but still cannot see any video although it has sound. Any other thoughts?

Trevor, tried the Hotfix again and this time it worked. Thanks again for your help.

For anyone else that dealing with this, I first downloaded the Hotfix from the regular Corel site which loaded itself and was not effective. The second time I downloaded it from the address referred by Trevor and manually installed the dll file as instructed and wallah it worked.
