Wondering if there are any pit falls or recommendations please?
Will it be a smooth upgrade over X8 and will it keep my settings.
Cheers
Mike

Re: Considering upgrading from Video Studio Pro X8 to X9.5 U
Upgrades do not install over previous versions - if you install X9.5 which should be smooth and easy you will then have both versions on your computer - both fully working - but X9.5 will not inherit any settings from X8 - you have to set them all up again - then if you like keep both versions - no problem as long as you only try to run one at a time
X9.5 *should* open all projects from X8 - only stumbling if you have used something (say music track) which is not available in X9.5 - you can save backwards as long as you do "Save As" >> X8 version in X9.5
any other clips/photos/graphics you may have specific in X8 can be transferred to X9.5 - or indeed set to be used in either/both version

Re: Considering upgrading from Video Studio Pro X8 to X9.5 U
OK thanks, not sure I'd want two long term.
Are there any big advantages swapping to X9.5, I have a number of buggy errors with X8 after MS did an update, says its own music files are corrupt etc.

Re: Considering upgrading from Video Studio Pro X8 to X9.5 U
I have no problems at all with X9.5 - I took the free upgrade to windows 10 and X9.5 seems to run on my PC quite smoothly - but then I don't have any problems with X7 or X8 either which are both still on the PC and usable at any time.
A major annoyance/downer for many people with X9.5 is that it installs two libraries of sound files - labelled "Triple Scoop Music" and "Muserk Sound effect" but the files in them are not on your computer but are just links to a server some where and if you want to use any of them you have to pay - but you can of course import all sound files you may already have into a library - - the good news is that you can hide those two supplied libraries so they do not appear and do not bother you

Re: Considering upgrading from Video Studio Pro X8 to X9.5 U
If you have X8 VSP files that include clips that have their speed adjusted and certain filters applied, then X9 may not be able to import these X8 VSP files without issues. Hence if you want to ensure that all X8 VSPs can be opened and worked without issues on then you should keep X8 around.BrianCee wrote:X9.5 *should* open all projects from X8 - only stumbling if you have used something (say music track) which is not available in X9.5
