Because there are a lot of seperate topics reporting problems with Linux installs, from the start with the release of ASP 3, I'm curious what the current situation is for everyone.
Because I had been reading about all these problems I did not try out ASP 3 until today.
The result is that some images from my Fuji XT1 now show strange colored horizontal lines, so I tried my old Nikon NEFs in my library. The result is an immediate crash as soon as I hover my mouse over some thumbs in the thumbnail viewer, the one on the left of the larger image. I don't even have to click on an image, it just crashed over and over again.
I immediately uninstalled it because it is unuseable. Now I wonder if I have to wait for ASP 4 for a possible solution.
Greg, if you are reading this, please comment on this?

Re: Current situation with ASP 3 Debian installs
I tried again and reinstalled ASP3. I want this to work...
Now I noticed that ASP3 crashed as soon as I click or hover over an image with a red block and key in the right bottom corner. Images I must have deleted but which still show up in the thumbnail browser. Otherwise, scrolling through and working with images inside a folder that does not have images marked with that red block and key worked fine.
I searched but can't find how to remove those thumbs from the image browser.

Re: Current situation with ASP 3 Debian installs
I experienced similar issues. It would seem that AfterShot Pro's image cache is not updated when images are deleted outside of AfterShot Pro, and trying to access them from within the software makes it crash.
The only way I managed to fix this issue is by fooling AfterShot Pro by recreating a corresponding image and .xmp file that shares a same path and filename as the deleted file. To do so, I copied over existing some files under the old filename. I also made sure the dmfversion:versionName attribute from the rdf:Descripion tag of the .xmp file points to the correct filename, just in case. This trick prevents AfterShot Pro from crashing when viewing a deleted image, so we can delete it from within the software afterwards.
In some situations, however, I was left with an empty folder, which I was never able to delete. Thankfully, I was able to click on the missing folder without crashing anything.
I would expect that Corel will fix those stability issues before the release of AS4, but I don't know if the commitment is there.

Re: Current situation with ASP 3 Debian installs
I'm quite sure I deleted those images from inside ASP and not from within my file manager. In ASP 2 this was no problem, and those images were there too.
This should be fixed. I'm not going to 'fool' ASP when I have a hundred folders and more
.
Hopefully they will fix this.

@Kneops: ...you could write small shell scripts and such, but we shouldn't need to do that... especially when working with commercial software.

Re: Current situation with ASP 3 Debian installs
Haven't been able to run ASP3 on Ubuntu as it will crash as soon as I open any folder with files from older version of ASP. I filed a bug report and the only suggestion I received was to uninstall and reinstall the program. That didn't do a damn thing. I'm about ready to kiss ASP goodbye.
Thanks.

Re: Current situation with ASP 3 Debian installs
@dflyer I was afraid of that too, that's why I waited so long to try ASP3. Except for the problem I mentioned I can access all folders and catalogues created by ASP2.
Just to sum up what I did, perhaps it can help. I'm using Linux Mint 17.3
I copied/moved the hidden ASP2 folder (.Aftershot*** ) in my home folder to a different location and then deleted it.
Than I installed ASP3, during install pointing to the folder I'm using for my catalogues and let ASP create the new .Aftershot Pro 3 folder.
Than I copied my presets etc. back from my previous ASP2 folder (.Aftershot*** ) to the new .Aftershot Pro 3 folder, especially the old rootdb file!
After starting ASP3 that gave me back my folders/catalogues.
ASP3 is now working for me, except for RAF images with the red lock/key. Clicking on them makes ASP3 crash.
Also I have colored lines on the RAF files that weren't there before in ASP2. I filed this bug to them.
Hope this helps.
