Hi all . . .
Can I create Blu-Ray discs off x9?
There is a clause about buying DVD authoring . . . is that involved in the process?

Yes you can create Blu-ray discs in X9 - you just need to purchase the Blu-ray plug-in
simply click on "Help" and you will see the option to purchase the plug-in

Thank you - that's excellent. Very kind of you.
Ironically, this feature seems to be free in Adobe Premiere Elements . . .

Depends on your definition of 'free'
Somebody has to pay for the blu-ray licence - in Adobe Premier Elements you pay when you purchase the software whether you need it or not - in Videostudio you only pay if you want to make blue ray discs - more and more people put their video on a SD card/ USB stick /portable hard drive - and plug it direct into their TV - no need for discs at all

Thank you. This is very useful for when smug friend with rival software says "I didn't have to pay for it . . . ." Interestingly, I'm not getting much interest in the films in question [2 hour-long amateur stage shows - therefore 2 DVDs] being put on Blu-Ray or sticks after all. The customers [people in the cast] seem happiest with good old DVDs. After all my careful HD filming! Thank you again for your help.

Re: Writing Blu-Ray discs out of X9
Graham, did they compare DVD to BD? I made one of each for one of my customers who did not own a BD player and told him to find a BD player and compare the two. Later he was fairly ecstatic in ordering 5 more of the BDs. DVD-only people cannot imagine the quality improvement without seeing it. BD players are available now for under $50 (10 Starbucks frappuccinos) so every body should have one. Reminds me of when I thought VHS was great. By the way, I kept VideoStudio X6 installed when I installed X8 and X9 so that I could continue burning Blu-rays, as that capability was intrinsic in X6.

Thank you for the message. I have a friend who does similar work and he said much the same. He also said AVCHD files sent to BD were even better than MP4.
