Hi,
A couple of months ago I bought Paint Shop Pro X8, thinking it would be a nice upgrade to my Photofiltre X program which is really basic. I now have the time to learn it and to my surprise a lot of functions don't work and it crashes so much that it's barely usable.
I've tried to follow the tutorials on Corel's YouTube channel, but since the program doesn't work as it's supposed, I have a hard time finishing those tutorials. Here's the bugs/problems I have:
- The freehand selection tool never complete. I draw a shape, but it doesn't close itself.
- The text layer disappear right after I've written my text! (Wtf?!?)
- If the text stays, one of the two colors doesn't change, so the text appears bold.
- The program crashes when I use the vector tools (any of then).
- The program crashes when I use an imported texture/pattern.
- The program crashes when I use the warp tools.
I use it on a Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) Intel Core i5-2500 3.30Ghz, 8 GB or Ram and 1TB hard disc.
Maybe there's a really obvious solution to this problem. If so, let me know!
Thanks!

Did you find a resolution to this? I am also suddenly having issues with this after having none previously. It's only been happening the last couple of days. All updates have been installed.

Yes, it's fully updated. Could it be a font that is causing the problems?trueblue wrote:Have you installed the updates? You can find them in a link up above.

Re: Paint Shop Pro X8 constant crashes
Running PSP X8 latest update and it still crashes. Working with vector text is a nightmare. This is an issue that has been dragging since PSP 7. AND, I spend half my design time right-clicking to get the properties or edit vector text or raster layers. Photoshop is looking better and better....

Re: Paint Shop Pro X8 constant crashes
If this was happening to everyone with PSPX7 or PSPX8 then I would say the fault is the programme. The fact it's not the case, may suggest something with your PC. There obviously seems some form of conflict. I'm wondering if the culprit could be Windows 7. Try removing PSP completely using the clean tool that's available in a pinned post above. Do a clean of your PC and then try again.

Re: Paint Shop Pro X8 constant crashes
My PSP8 is constantly crashing too using vectors mainly
It is driving me mad
I do all the work, it crashes and has not saved the image
I can't see any links to updates in links above though
I have been a fan of PSP for years but I think the love affair has now ended and I will find another
Asking what we would like to improve with PSP is a bit like rubbing salt in a wound--all I want is it to work

Re: Paint Shop Pro X8 constant crashes
Hello,
Glad to have found this forum and look forward to reading all the helpful hints and whatnot going forward on various topics. A big thanks in advance also to all those that might have suggestions and ideas both here and elsewhere.
That being written, I'm really just posting this as a FYI to Corel programmers I suppose.
I have a new Windows 10 laptop, so I believe the PSPX8 install couldn't have been any cleaner, and yet the PSPX8 software is either freezing or crashing. I'm not sure which way to describe it since sometimes it starts showing the "encountered a problem" message which eventually creates a crash and sometimes it freezes, hard, such that no action via the usual means has an effect.
Typically I will be doing some simple photo editing and get through perhaps a couple edits, attempt to save, and then either the PSPX8 software freezes hard in place and only a task manager "Restart" or "Kill Process" can change its status, or, it at least pops up the error message, suggesting it will search for an online answer though nothing further ever happens.
The PSPX8 is updated and it's a fresh install. Unfortunately there's a conflict somewhere. I don't actually expect a solution here, that would be up to those at Corel since I believe they do want current customers to become future customers
but I want to add my voice to those also having crashing/freezing issues with PSPX8 software.
Thanks for reading!
p.s. I would note that if this was happening to everyone it would be a catastrophic thing and that is rare. Rather one might think of it such that if even one person decides to seek out answers via registering etc. then one may also extrapolate that there are dozens, if not hundreds, of others having similar issues but for whatever reason aren't finding this forum, registering and posting about this problem.
