Moving programs to a new computer

It's been so long since I've bought a new computer that I'm not sure what the process is these days if you want to move olds apps from the old computer to a new computer. I suppose I can't just transfer the old programs to a flash drive and put them on my new computer, right? Do I have to download the apps then plug in an old but still valid license number?

I might hold off upgrading to X9 until I get a new machine, but if moving the apps is a simple process, then I can upgrade to X9 now with my 20% "good customer discount" and just use it on my old machine until I find a new one I like.

Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you have the installation file (the .exe), yes, it is that simple and you can reinstall it on the new computer.

If you are talking about the "already installed program", no, since the installation process does more than just placing files on your drive; it also does some changes in the registry, etc.

Glad that you can access them easily.
One caution: make copies somewhere else because in a year or more, those files might no longer be available for download if you ever lose them
