Still possible to add icons to menus?

Post by mc_peko »

Is it still possible to add icons back to the standard menus?

First they were there, as they of course should be.

Then we had to add them in a very manual way.

Now it seems also that is impossible?

I'm not sure I understand the question correctly, so you may have to disregard this :)

I don't have X9, but in all versions menu View/Customize... opens up the customize dialog. There you can create new menus and toolbars, and modify existing menus and toolbars.

If you want to add a custom script you need to "Bind" it first, that you can do on the Scripts tab of the customize dialog.

Thanks for your answer. My initial post was a bit sloppy. Fixing it up a bit now.

I only want the icons in the menus back. The standard menus. There are no icons in the menus. The menus are File, Edit, View, Image, Adjust, etc. In my opinion only a completely insane person would include the lovely icons in the program, only to have them removed from the menus, as Corel did a few years back. I mean, file under stark raving crazy nonsense.

I think you are still a bit unclear there. I cannot remember there being icons for File, Edit View , Image , Adjust.
There were icons for the drop down menu items
eg. Adjust > Color > Channel Mixer
The Channel Mixer had an icon and you can still show the icon from the Customise function.
However each of these have to be done individually whereas in some of the earlier versions you could do all of the icons with one click.
It was available in PSP8, X2, X3 (the ones I have) but was dropped for an individual choice in X4. Why?? Only Corel knows .
.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

Removing the option to add all the icons back was one of the worst decisions they ever made.

Yes. I mean inside the menus. Not for the actual menus. No applications have that.

Please tell me how. That's what I want to know. I'm not sure it's possible anymore in X9?

I can tell you how it works in X8:

Right click in any tool bar or the menubar.
select Customise...
ignore the dialogue that opens for now
left click a menu eg the effects menu
right click any item in that menu eg Fill Flash
select image and text.
repeat ad nauseam.
click close.

back in the day it used to be in the customise dialogue. Maybe that is what you're thinking of.
