If I open an image, then go:
Image > Free Rotate and change the direction from right to left with the radio button, PaintShop Pro X9 Update 1 v19.0.1.8 crashes every time.

Is there a fix coming for this?

That's why I gave it a proper title.

Just tried it after reading about it here and mine crashes when I click the button to try rotating. All ok on the preset rotations. The code appears to be breaking as soon as you click the free rotation so it's not the actual rotation breaking it but a jump to whatever routine is managing this.

Sounds to me like something that Corel should be working on for a fast second patch.

There seems to be a solution.

* Find Corel PaintShop Pro X9.exe in C://Program Files(x86)/Corel/Corel PaintShop Pro X9/
* Right mouse-click > Properties
* Tab Compatibility > Compatibility Mode > Make it Windows 7 compatible
* Open with Administrator rights by rightclicking the exe again.

Worked for me.

Must have started coding on X9 when Windows 7 was still fashionable.

Hi Zantara

Thanks for the info, unfortunately that does not work for me.

I have also re-installed the program and running the unpatched version 19.0.0.96
By the way I have the same issues running 32 bit and 64 bit programs.

My PSPX9 *.pspimage jobs, which contains free rotated text elements are unopenable after saving..
Free rotated pictures works, just the rotated text contain a bug.

There are two important points in the quoted post. First,, @Batka is able to use Free Rotate without it crashing PSP, which most people don't seem to be able to do. Second, he does have an issue when he does use free rotate on text in that PSP fails to open those images once saved. So there would seem to be some connection between the free rotate issue and the issue some people are having with X9 not opening some image.

However, if the only problem with opening some saved images is when they have text that has been free rotated then that would either mean that those people reporting not being able to open some images ARE able to use free rotate without crashes, or else there is another issue also causing some images not to open.

EDIT: Joelle, in another thread, reported that Free Rotate doesn't crash her X9, so it's now starting to look as if it might depend on OS plus some other system configuration and/or specs. Definitely not just an OS issue for sure based on the posts.

Very confusing at this stage.

Whe are running a paintshop pro forum for many years ... There are members even from different Countrys ... Different OS ... Different setups ! Different filters !!
Everything is different !!!!!
Just one litle thing is common ...
All of us .. Whe cannot even touch this free rotating radiobutton !!
Yes ...... you can free rotate !! if you do not try to change the value in it !
This is a major bug ..... You cannot bring this problem on a OS or a setting !!!!
This is not a setting or OS problem !!

In all the other vesions of Paintshop pro this function is working fine ! Why Changing this script ??

Your English is fine - I don't speak any other language at all! :-)

I wasn't trying to say it was an OS issue. I agree it is a PSP issue, but am just suggesting that because the issue doesn't affect everybody then it still may only become evident when some other system or program or registry settings are also present.

Interestingly, i got ONE crash initially, then could not replicate it.
I tested many combo and found this (using Windows 7):
- on a 32 bit machine, i can't replicate the crash at all
- on a 64 bit machine, using the 64 bit version of PSP, i got one crash initially, but could not replicate it after.
- on a 64 bit machine, using the 32 bit version of PSP, i got crashes after crashes

for me, it didn't seem to happen when i clicked on something in particular, but almost seems like it is happening seconds after doing something else, like if i change the settings slowly, the crash will happen not immediately upon clicking on something.

As JoeB mentioned, there is probably a specific combo of OS and other machine configurations that would be the common denominator (in addition to PSP obviously).
