Still Having Trouble?

Post by bill in pa »

I realized at my last posting that my old VS program just might be out of date to the new standards set by Windows 7 64-bit. To that end I decided to purchase a hard copy of Video Studio 9.5 Pro (VS 19.5.0.35 64 bit Pro).

My problem is that the program seems very slow or sluggish when running. Even just to start or boot the program seems to take forever. I realize that there are certain patches to this edition but in looking at the web page I could not understand if all of those patches are necessary and are confusing at best. I’m hoping that someone here can throw a bit of light my way and advise on exactly what patches are necessary. I would also like to know if it would be advisable to remove the program and re-load it with the patches that may be suggested here or just load the patches from the program loaded now as it is.

Why I am saying it in that way is because immediately after loading the program and starting it for the very first time, it told me that upgrades are available and proceeded to download the upgrades by itself. Of course at the speed it was downloading, I had no way of confirming exactly what or which updates it loaded. Perhaps you can understand my reluctance to download further. My thinking here is that I may do more harm than good so some advice would be appreciated. Also I must confess, after reading the hot fixes message page I got even more confused so any help is most welcomed.

Hi Bill

I can only agree that the Service Patches availability can be confusing.

However if you allow the program to automatically install the Service Patch then you should have no problems.

From your post I can only assume that the latest patch has been installed.

If you go to Help – Check for Updates then is should return “ there are no updates available at this time”
In which case you are running the most upto date program, there is no need to download or install any other patches.

Now can you please update your profile via the "User Control Panel" to include your computer specification, that will show to the right of your post and may give us a clue why the program seems slow.

Can you give more details of when the program appears slow?
