Horizontal black line on overlay 5 from cropped overlay 8

Post by dwwarden »

Hello! This forum has been exceptionally helpful to me, answered many questions as I am a beginner with VS. This is my first post.

I have a black horizontal line on overlay track 5 from from overlay track 8 in VS 18.6.0.6 64bit Ultimate. See attached screen shot. The top half is overlay 8, the bottom half is overlay 5. Overlay track 8 is using the built-in Cropping filter at 100% wide but 50% high. The horizontal black line appears to be the bottom of overlay tack 8. Both overlay tracks are positioned using the Advanced Motion attribute. Overlay track 8 has a Y position of 52, if I change the Y position of overlay 8, the black line moves with it.

The line stays after rendering. Of course, I would love you advise on how to get rid of it. Details of project, clips, system, etc. below:

VS 18.6.0.6 64bit Ultimate, all patches applied.

Project properties:
MPEG-4 Files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 29.97 fps
Frame-based
H.264 Main Profile Video: 15000 Kbps, 16:9
48000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 128 Kbps
NTSC

Both overlay clips are from a Go Pro 3 with the following properties:
H.264
24 buts, 1920 x 1080
29.970 fps
15000kps
NTSC

PC specs are current in my profile.

Thanks!

David

Hi, Sorry I don't understand your setup.
Maybe if you add timeline screenshot.
Are those images in motion?

** Ascetically, I would keep that border.

*** Ohhh, now I see the arrows...

Hi

There does seem to be a problem there with the combination of Cropping filter and Customise Motion.
The thin line seems to be the edge of the clip 8.

As a workround….
Remove Customise motion - now shows the black border of the cropping filter.
Add Mask & Chroma Key
Apply Overlay options
Type -- Mask
Choose the full mask, about 4 rows up from bottom, next to chequer board effect.
Should remove the black border.
Manually reposition overlay clip. (press up arrow on keyboard.)
