X9 and the Screen recorders

Post by hartpaul »

I wondered why Corel bothered to spend time on a screen capture / recording program. Those people that needed one would have already purchased / obtained a specialist program.
Although have downloaded the corel one I have not bothered to install and test it. Perhaps others who have used it might add their feelings.

Back in 2011 I did a survey of different screen recorder programs looking at the claimed features and then preparing a short list and testing those.

Wikipedia had a comparison listing of a lot of screen recorders.:

These were the ones I looked at:

From those considering price and zoom functions, ease of use from default settings I made a short list which I downloaded and installed and tested.

From these my final choice was
BSR Screen Recorder

Well I have now tried the screen recorder from Corel and most impressed. Why didn't they have this back in 2011 when I was looking for a screen recorder.

I installed and ran the screen recorder and it worked first time, captured a good volume of sound and also produced a very clear recording. Only downsides?? were that it could only save in wmv format, but I was able to convert that using AVS4U Video converter to an flv file and again the results were very clear image and good sound. It also does not have a zoom in function

Where are screen recorders used - recording a problem with a program eg a crash with PSP. , recording a computer game process for say time management games, recording a tutorial eg. many of Levifictions tutorials on youtube.com.
It also does not have an instruction manual although its simple interface probably does not need that so far.

I believe Corel could offer the Screen recorder program as a separate selling program and should consider that.

There's a free screen recorder that's included in the VSDC Free Video Editor package:
http://www.videosoftdev.com/free-video-editor

It has many options for file formats, and audio capture.

The VSDC Free Video Editor also will convert between various video formats.
