pspimage
unable to open the file please verify that the file is valid
I spent most of yesterday creating an image. The pspimage is 1.36GB.
All was working fine yesterdeay.
I come in today, open the file and "Unable to open the file. Please verify that the file is valid."
Restarting PC doesnt work.
Resetting PSP X9 doesnt work.

Re: X9 pspimage unable to open the file please verify...
Did you save the image in a previous PSP to only open in that particular version of the programme?
Reopen the image in the PSP it was created and save as for PSPX8. X8 files should open in X9.

Nope. Same version.
No updates were installed either.
And the other psp files from yesterday still open fine.

Ok, really annoyed now!!!
.
PSP X9
So, today I spend another six hours rebuilding the image from yesterday and saved a few different pspimage files.
I close everything down and try to re-open one of the files and... "Unable to open the file. Please verify that the file is valid."
Try another one "Unable to open the file. Please verify that the file is valid."
What! The! F***!?
Dudes! Seriously! In my 14 or so years of using PSP this has never happened!
What the hell!?
What are the restrictions or limitations on psp files? How could it possibly be not valid?

More details. What size image in pixels? How many layers?
Seems to be a lotof layers and large to occupy 1.36 GB
Were the ones that opened of the same pixel dimensions and the same number of layers.
Doing progressive saves throughout, at which point does the image become unable to be reloaded.

Not only number of layers, but also what type?
For example, my PSP X7 screws up White Balance adjustment layers. I can add them but not re-adjust later, "requested parameter not found in the repository". It could be a small step from screwing up the layer to not being able reopen a saved file with a corrupted layer. Compare to an older version not being able to open files saved for newer versions, unrecognized types.

Re: X9 pspimage unable to open the file please verify...
Canvas Size: 17180 x 4080 (Yes, its big)
Nine(?) layers in one of them. One of the other files I merged layers down to three layers.
I hadnt started doing anything fancy with the layers yet. Just editing, cloning, etc.
Some of the layers do extend beyond the canvas size.
The file that does work is: 11132 x 6804. Five layers.
Now, dont just say "Well, theres your problem. The image is too big." Thats why I asked what are the restrictions or limitations on psp files?

Same problem. Much smaller file-- simple website banner. Using PSP X2 for a year and just upgraded to X9. .pspimage files saved with X9 cannot be opened by X9. Existing X2 .pspimage files will open (the few I tried).

Re: X9 pspimage unable to open the file please verify...
Completly same as warcroft... I'm very disappointed. I worked on a poster all of the day PSPX9_x64, and suddenly the pspimage file is "unable to open the file please verify..."..
And I made more saves, and all of them are unopenable..
What the heck is it?? I bought full version of PSPX8, it was perfect, never did same problem. Last weeks I bought PSPX9 upgrade and it is sucks. The base program and the update1 too make this strange thing.
I reinstalled PSPX9 and: "unable to open the file please verify..."

OK, I saved my works step-by-step and the last openable *.pspimage version wasn't yet contain free rotated text element (just free rotated pictures). And the first version with free rotated text, and all of the afterwards are unopenable.
So I saw others problem with the free rotate and maybe this problem is exactly same!

Re: X9 pspimage unable to open the file please verify...
Did you do the free rotate using the Image>Rotate>Free Rotate menu or using the handle on the bounding box around the text to rotate the text? As I understand it, using the menu item to free rotate crashes PSPX9.Batka wrote:OK, I saved my works step-by-step and the last openable *.pspimage version wasn't yet contain free rotated text element (just free rotated pictures). When I do the rotation (from menu and the bounding box too) don't crash PSPX9. But when I save in *.pspimage and restart PSPX9 and reopen pspimage, the file is unopenable...

Can you upload one of the files for us to try it on our machine. Can you do that? You can use Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, DropBox or HighTail.
It seems that PSPX9 is corrupting the file when saving. I assume you are on Windows 10 like me.

Re: X9 pspimage unable to open the file please verify...
That's news. There are a whole bunch of people reporting that using Free Rotate crashes their PSPx9. I wonder what's different about your system that makes it work for you.Batka wrote:When I do the rotation (from menu and the bounding box too) don't crash PSPX9.
And the next question is whether the others who are reporting that they are unable to open some saved pspimage files are also able to use Free Rotate without crashing X9, and also if they did so on those images that they can no longer open.
