VS X95 Failed to Initialise
I installed VS X95 (VS X5.0, X7.0, X8.4 already installed). When VS X95 is launched, it takes long time (3-4 mn) and then says "Get All items failed, result = 100". Shall I de-install the previous versions of VS.? Personnaly, I'd like ensuring that X9.5 works before removing previous versions.
Thanks for advice,

Re: VS X95 Failed to Initialise
There is no need at all to remove the past version(s). Quite a few of us here have several versions installed, with no problem.
I have to say that I don't recall ever seeing such an error message in all my years on this Board. All I can suggest is that you uninstall X9.5 and reinstall it.

Re: VS X95 Failed to Initialise
Dear Ken,
I did it but it does not solve the issue. Is a log available somewhere or a tracing I could enable?

Re: VS X95 Failed to Initialise
Hi
First try resetting the program.
http://lata.me.uk/corel/reset/reset.htm
Delete the folder 19.0 from here:-
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\19.0
(type %appsdata% into windows search box)
If the above does not help....
Can you uninstall using the Cleanup tool from here
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=59847
After uninstall, delete that 19.0 folder again.
Manually Install video studio from the download folder
\64bit\Ultimate (double click Setup.exe file)
By default downloads go to a VideoStudio folder on the desktop.
Run the program, if ok, install the Standard Content (setup_CHD.exe).
It does take a while on first launch whilst files and libraries are populated.

Re: VS X95 Failed to Initialise
Thanks Trevor,
I executed step by step the procedure you proposed and unfortunately it did not solve the issue. I suspect now the content I downloaded since it seems to be made file by file instead having a single zip file with checksum check.
Best Regards,
Marc

Re: VS X95 Failed to Initialise
Hi Marc
The latest download for the Main CVSX9.5 program is contained in 64bit / Ultimate folder
The Ultimate folder contains 21 separate files/folders. (setup.exe to install)
Otherwise install using the Web Installer that was used to down load the files.
Earlier versions of Video Studio would download a single .exe self extracting file.

Re: VS X95 Failed to Initialise
Dear Trevor,
I downloaded again the software. I moved it into a different drive (G:\ref_drivers_softs\20160817_Corel_VideoStudioX9.5). I downloaded it without interruption (in one go).
I cleaned-up the previous installation (as per your procedure)
I re-installed with the "New" distribution.
Conclusion: Same Issue
I though that it does not like starting from a drive which is not c: . So, after the classical clean-up, I started the install from the directory it stores the downloaded files by default (C:\users..), even with the right directory name "VideoStudioX9"
Same issue.
When I mention installation, I mean starting setup.exe from 64bit\Ultimate after removal of roaming data and regular clean-up
The main question is why it does complain and about what?
Just having a look into the evenlog of windows, I have that (exception from vstudio...). oops!!

Re: VS X95 Failed to Initialise
Hi Marc
Unfortunately I am at a total loss as to why the program will not launch.
The details you provided do not mean that much to me other than you using the latest fully patched version 19.5.0.35.
I have that running on Windows 10 without problems, although was installed using Windows 7.
I notice the text is French, do you think the program language may be an issue here, French as opposed to English versions.
I assume you have tried right click vstudio.exe and run as Administrator
Disconnect internet connection and try running program, should overcome registration.
As I say I just do not know what else to suggest.
You should contact Corel Support if you have not already done so.

Re: VS X95 Failed to Initialise
Greetings!!
Where true, you can have multiple versions of our software installed, coming from the Level II desk at the technical center, I have found in a lot of cases, having only one version on the system is preferable. I would strongly recommend the following actions:
1) Use the clean up tools to fully remove all versions of Videostudio from your system, up to and including X9.5
2) Ensure when you reinstall X9.5 that you verify that Windows did not attach any compatibility options to the launcher / program executable. (*Righ click on the desktop icon, choose properties, click Compatibility tab and remove any / all check marks*)
3) Ensure Windows is fully up to date by checking Windows Updates
4) Ensure you have the latest drivers for your video and sound card
If you have any further concerns, I invite you to create a support ticket by visiting https://support.corel.com/hc/en-us and ask to be transferred to the Level II team, where either myself or one of my colleagues can work with you to ascertain the problem in real time.

Re: VS X95 Failed to Initialise
There seems to be a hotfix for this now (released about 2 months ago, according to Norton) which I have used (with a few issues, mentioned elsewhere):

Jim.

Hi
Thanks Jim for the details of the hotfix.
I have not had a problem but sure those that do will be pleased to have this fix.

Re: VS X95 Failed to Initialise
I have just encountered the same problem. A reinstall solved the problem but, when I applied the 9.5 update the problem came back.
