2016 Windows 10 Anniversary Update kills 64 bit program
Hi fellow users. On August 9 I installed Windows 10 Anniversary Update. When doing updates, I ALWAYS check system to make sure nothing has been broken. I found that my PSP X8 Ultimate program no longer will launch. I get the following error:
"PSP.exe Entry Point Not Found - The procedure point_crt CreateSymbolicLinkW could not be found in the dynamic Link Library.
C:\Windows|System32\MSVCP110.dll"
I did discover after several conversations with Microsoft, that the 32bit version still works. Down side here; I have a 64 bit operating system and should be able to run 64 bit programs, right.
When I reboot my computer I get a similar nag error titled: "PUA.exe Entry Point Not Found - The procedure point_crt CreateSymbolicLinkW could not be found in the dynamic Link Library.
C:\Windows|System32\MSVCP110.dll"
I'm not sure who is responsible for fixing this problem, but I have notified both Microsoft and Corel with the hopes that one of them can fix it as I'm sure I'm not the only one having these issues.
I do see the purchase of an Apple computer in my future.

You're lucky. Some people are reporting that the Windows 10 Anniversary update freezes their computers or won't let it reboot. Info is easy to find with Google.

Re: 2016 Windows 10 Anniversary Update kills 64 bit program
I might be one of the lucky ones but I have applied the Win 10 Anniversary update to a number of my computers (8 of them), most of them with multiple but varying versions of PSP on them, up to and including X9 on two of them and X8 (both 64 and 32 bit) on three of them. X8 in both versions continues to work just fine on all of them.
In fact, so far, the only negative effects I have noticed since the update have been some slow reaction times to mouse clicking in certain (non-Corel) programs; and the new Sticky Notes which do not seem to stay open on screen after a reboot...

Gosh Ken, that's great that you didn't have any issues. Up until that update my computer just hummed along with no issues what so ever.

Yes, there are lots - probably the majority? - of people who haven't had issues with the upgrade. But a sufficient number of them have had serious issues immediately after the upgrade that even Microsoft has acknowledged almost immediately they are working on trying to solve them.

May be a short term work around is to download the trial of x9 and see if that will work for you. That will at least give you 30 days to find a solution. Maybe!!
Good luck.
Good luck.

Looks like it's Microsoft's issue to correct and they have acknowledged it here http://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly ... eae81a7745luizmp wrote:Guys, any solution?
The above article offers a workaround.
Good luck.

That's not really a work around. It's just how you go back to the previous build.
My suggestion for the OP would be to reinstall PSP. Or if they know anything about symbolic links try to rebuild them.
Also the error he's getting on reboot appears to be related to the programme that displays offers. I think many people will have disabled this.

Re: 2016 Windows 10 Anniversary Update kills 64 bit program
Same problem here
When I bought PaintShopPro X8 Ultimate (upgrade edition) it installed and worked well on my Windows 10 v 1511 PC
Since Windows upgraded itself to version 1607 (Anniversary Update) yesterday I have been faced with this warning on restart.
PSPPro64 was removed from your PC because it doesn't work on this version of Windows
Under learn more, it went on .... This App you're trying to use was blocked from opening because it might damage your PC or result in loss of data .....
This is very disconcerting to say the least.
Will Corel be releasing a patch to fix this incompatibility issue or is the 64 bit version program as good as dead now

Re: 2016 Windows 10 Anniversary Update kills 64 bit program
We don't know what Corel might or might not be doing since none of us here work for Corel. As noted above, though, the 64 bit versions continues to work perfectly for quite a few of us. If Corel can't replicate the problem some users are having, it would be difficult for them to issue a patch for it...BumbleBee wrote:Will Corel be releasing a patch to fix this incompatibility issue or is the 64 bit version program as good as dead now
EDIT: I've drawn this thread to Corel's attention. Hopefully they will soon come up with a comment...

Thank you.
I did raise a ticket with Corel Support and they have suggested uninstalling PaintShop Pro X8 and re installing. Not something I relish due to all the add ons etc, but will give it a go in the coming days & let you know how it goes. Fingers crossed!

Following the advice from Corel Support to uninstall using the cleanup tool recommended on this Forum
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=52337
And then reinstall PSProX8, Windows 10 v 1607 is no longer blocking the 64 bit version of this program on startup thank goodness.
Great relief.
