Hello,
I have been having problems getting the optical out audio working for dvds i have authored with mf4 on my ps2. i have only been able to get it to work with the rca audio cables.
the optical out works for all my other bought dvds (except one).
i have tried the following MPEG settings for audio:
LPCM Audio, 48000 Hz, Stereo
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
both give the same result.
Has anyone else had similar problems?
MF4 + PS2 + Optical Audio Out
Weird....
It's generally up to the player to send audio to both outputs. so, I'd guess Movie Factory is not the source of the problem.
The DVD only needs one soundtrack. And, all DVD players are supposed to play LPCM. NTSC players (USA) must also play AC3. PAL players must play MPEG audio. If the DVD only has a 5.1 surround soundtrack, the player is supposed to "mixdown" the sound to 2 channels for the stereo "RCA" output.
Maybe the PS2, (or your version of PS2) only uses the optical for 5.1 surround???
How about that one commercial DVD that's has the same problem? Is there anything about the audio that's different from your other commercial DVDs? (I've never had that problem on my stand-alone DVD player, with either a burned or a commercial DVD.)
...I did a quick web search to see if I could find anything about PS2 audio. I found a forum with some discussion about setting-up some PS2 audio menus. They aren't talking about the exact same problem, but maybe some different menu settings will help???
