Looking at Ulead tutorials - it explains methods on how to import video into VS - but I'm just curious re best method - quality.
Any video / photos I have on SD card is it best I create a folder on my PC ( D DRIVE ( regular harddrive BTW - even though my VS is on C DRIVE ( SSD ) ) and then I go into VS, edit mode and simply bring in clips OR BETTER? to import using 'Capture' direct from SD card ?
Thoughts welcome. Wanting to begin a project with the best possible start.

With an SD card you never have to capture, simply use Windows Explorer to copy the files from the card to whatever folder you want on your system.

Re: Old chestnut - importing clips into VS
I realise that about SD cards - but in the past I have 'Capture > Import from digital media'
Is this not the way to do it then?
Concern is just...I copy from SD card onto a 'new folder' on my PC desktop etc and then I go into VS and click on that folder to bring it into the programme. Does this not mean I am copying twice the images? Just want the more effective method possible to bring a clip into video studio.

Re: Old chestnut - importing clips into VS
Thanks for the reply but im none the wiser. Simple question really...should I copy photos/video to a folder on my PC and FROM THERE import into VS or a photo editing package.
That be ok? or is there a 'better quality guarenteed' method of importing.
Thats all im asking. Surely you chap/ess are working with photos video all the time - how do you import from your original source

Hi
Import /Insert ……
Digital files, Images Video can be copy and pasted to your hard drive folders from SD Cards, Compact Flash Cards etc. The quality is the same on PC as on camera.
The above uses Windows Explorer to access the folders to Copy and Paste to Computer.
Then we Insert the files to Video Studio timelines.
Video Studio
Can be used to Import from Digital Media, this replaces Windows Explorer, allows us to browse for files, choose a save location, the process copies files to a new folder (The quality is the same on PC as on camera.) and automatically inserts clips to the timeline, the new folder should be used as your working folder for that particular project.
The files are also given a new name usually in date format.
You can use either of the above methods.

Re: Old chestnut - importing clips into VS
LATA, THANKS once again for all your replies to recent threads, won't continue to clog up the threads..will be endless constant questions from myself..so will end it there I think.
Will look for firewire as suggested, and able to create folder for photos and from there bring into VS etc sounds ok to me ( old skool - under impression with every JPEG photo you copy / save the quality goes down a grade..so making a montage for example..having to perhaps spend a week opening/closing/updating images thought would lose a lot of quality..but seems like should be ok..and no real alternative anyway. )
